CopyBet UK Review (2023)

UK online sportsbooks are being launched all the time, but they are not often very unique.

CopyBet offers something very different from the norm, with the brand making a case to be one of the most interesting online betting sites in the UK right now as a result of its new innovation.

At CopyBet - which is licensed and regulated in the UK by the Gambling Commission - so it can be considered both safe and legal to use for British sports fans - users can copy tipsters' bets. SSL protocols are also in place at the new CopyBet sports betting site. This helps to protect customer data, so users can sign up for a CopyBet account and be assured their info is safe.

The sportsbook platform, which can also be accessed through both an Android app and one for iOS, can be used without this feature but it is the 'copy' feature that makes CopyBet stand out.

Like many gambling companies, CopyBet has used sponsorships to grow its public profile. During the summer of 2022, CopyBet was confirmed as the official betting partner for London-based team Queens Park Rangers, running a special QPR promotion as a result. CopyBet's business development director Anton Ivanov said: "We are delighted to announce our partnership with Queens Park Rangers, we are passionate football supporters so we are extremely happy to be involved with such a historic English club. It’s set to be an exciting season for CopyBet working with QPR and I hope the team will also have great success on the pitch."

Euan Inglis, QPR's commercial director, said: "We are excited about this new partnership with CopyBet. Their model is very different to others in the marketplace with their innovative use of social media. Anton and the team at Copybet have been a pleasure to deal with as we embark on this multi-year partnership, which will include a number of creative collaborative initiatives."

With the QPR deal having been extended so it will run throughout the 2023-24 English Football League season, CopyBet has moved to snap up Shay Given as its first-ever brand ambassador. Given, the former Newcastle United and Republic of Ireland international, was previously in a similar role with Leo Vegas. The goalkeeper said: "I'm delighted to have signed for CopyBet and look forward to working with the CopyBet team. All is set for another exciting football season in both domestic and European competitions. With Euro 2024 taking place in Germany at the end of the season, there is so much for football fans to look forward to over the next 12 months."

The CopyBet director Ivanov added: "Shay Given is a Premier League legend and as football fans we're delighted to sign him as our first-ever brand ambassador. We look forward to working with him during what is set to be an exciting season for both CopyBet and all football fans."

Although CopyBet was actually established in 2016, it is only recently that the company has become a lot more popular in the world of online sports betting in the UK. The firm now has around 18,000 different events to bet on in its sportsbook every day, so there is lots of choice.

CopyBet Strengths

  • Unique opportunity to 'copy' the bets of top tipsters
  • Large welcome bonus for new UK users who sign up
  • Slick design and easy to navigate around the site
  • Strong mobile app for iOS and Android

CopyBet Weaknesses

  • Customer service offering is a little limited
  • No attached online casino at CopyBet
  • Not as many payment options as elsewhere

CopyBet Sportsbook Review

With CopyBet being the official betting partner of QPR - a team that plays in the Championship - it is no surprise football is clearly the leading sport to bet on at the site. Football dominates the sportsbook at CopyBet, leading the way from basketball, tennis, volleyball and others. Horse racing features down the list but UK, Ireland and international meetings are all available here.

There is no esports section, which is a curious omission given the rapid rise in popularity when it comes to betting on CS:GO, Dota 2 and so on. There is no virtual sports section either, while anyone who likes to play casino games as well as place sports bets will be disappointed here. Some special markets like Strictly Come Dancing and various global elections are offered.

The value of the odds at the CopyBet sportsbook is OK, but they are not among the best around. Those who value being able to get top prices will need to shop around to get them. Like a lot of the major online bookmakers that are catering for UK sports fans these days, CopyBet customers can also benefit from a bet builder tool. Here, British football fans can put together a same-game acca that can have very big potential profits if accurate predictions can be made.

Linking up with QPR means CopyBet customers can get a £5 free bet on all the team's games. This is in addition to the no deposit £5 free bet offer for new users, who also have the option to claim up to £40 in free bets when they sign up for an account. Existing customers will get top offers such as an acca bet boost to increase their profits, along with enhanced odds bet boosts. CopyBet runs a prediction challenge where free bets or a football shirt can be won as prizes.

Along with the sportsbook, CopyBet users have the option to subscribe to tipsters on the site. Here, they can opt to 'copy' all the tipsters' bets for a subscription fee. This is something very different from the norm and may appeal to those who want to try out something unique here. CopyBet's rating system ranks the tipsters by the success of their bets, not their predictions.

CopyBet does not currently offer any live sports streaming. Those UK sports fans who want to be able to tune into the latest action through their sports betting site will have to look elsewhere.

CopyBet Customer Support Options

Most bookmakers in the UK nowadays have plenty of ways for users to get in touch if they have a problem or an issue with their account, so what are the CopyBet customer support options?

Unfortunately, this is an area where CopyBet is falling behind. Live chat is available on virtually all new online betting sites these days, but this is not something CopyBet is able to provide yet.

There is a frequently asked questions area where CopyBet customers will be able to find details such as the payment methods that can be used, but no live chat will be a problem for UK users.

CopyBet does not seem to have email or telephone customer service either, which some may see as a red flag. Not being able to call or email the site with questions is not ideal, but there is a contact us form that can be used to get in touch with the site's customer service department.

CopyBet Payment Methods

The list of CopyBet payment methods that can be used by the site's cashier is not a long one, especially when compared to the myriad options that many major online bookies now offer.

Debit cards will be the default way for most people to add funds to their CopyBet account. In line with UK rules and regulations for online gambling, credit cards cannot be used to deposit here.

E-wallets have become one of the most popular banking methods at online bookmakers over the past few years, not least because they tend to be the fastest way to withdraw winnings.

Skrill and Neteller are the two e-wallets included on the list of CopyBet payment methods, but those who would prefer to bet with PayPal will have to sign up with a different betting site instead.

There is no option to use pay by phone bill in the CopyBet cashier either, while Paysafecard is another common online payment method that is not currently accepted by the betting site.

And while a lot of major online bookmakers in the UK have accepted cryptocurrency payments, allowing their customers to pay with Bitcoin and other leading crypto options, CopyBet has not.

At the CopyBet cashier, the minimum deposit that can be made in a transaction - regardless of which of the different approved CopyBet payment methods are used - has been set at £10.

Withdrawals should be processed within two business days, according to the CopyBet site. Those who want to get their hands on their money as quickly as possible are advised to use an e-wallet when processing a withdrawal out of their CopyBet account. Due to the fact that CopyBet covers the commission for depositing/withdrawing funds, there are no fees to pay.

Bonuses & Offers ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The range of betting bonuses at CopyBet is strong, topped off with a welcome bonus providing up to £40 in free bets, or a no deposit free bet. Further football-free bets are available for each QPR match as CopyBet is the team's betting partner, while accas are boosted here too. Free bets at CopyBet last for seven days, so customers must use them before they lose them. The payout for all of the CopyBet free bets cannot exceed £500 and cash out cannot be used.

Betting Options ⭐⭐⭐⭐

CopyBet runs around 18,000 sporting events a day on its sportsbook, so there are a lot of good choices for people to pick from, though the lack of esports betting markets is a notable omission from the site at the time of writing. As well as the standard sportsbook, CopyBet's USP is the fact users can subscribe to 'tipsters' and copy their bets in order to bank some winnings too.

Banking Options ⭐⭐⭐

The cashier at CopyBet does not have nearly as many options as top sports betting sites in the UK, with debit cards and e-wallets such as Skrill and Neteller joined by Apple Pay and Google Pay. Common options like pay by phone bill, Paysafecard and cryptocurrency are all missing from the list of CopyBet payment methods, but it is likely that more will be added in the future.

Mobile Experience ⭐⭐⭐

CopyBet is decent when it comes to mobile betting. The CopyBet mobile site is fast and easy to navigate, while CopyBet also has its own mobile betting apps, for both iOS and Android too. However, the CopyBet app is rated just 2.4 stars out of five on the Play Store, and 3.5/5 on iOS.

Payout Speed ⭐⭐⭐

Users at CopyBet who withdraw their winnings might be waiting a little longer than at some of the best online sports betting sites in the UK. The site says that all of its withdrawal requests will be processed within two business days, but only between the hours of 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Security ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Security standards at CopyBet look to be solid, with the site using the typical SSL encryption in order to protect its users' data. CopyBet has also secured the necessary legal license from the UK Gambling Commission, which is necessary in order to be able to operate in this country.

Customer Support ⭐⭐

CopyBet has a solid FAQ section that most users will find handy if they have a common query, but the customer support options are lacking here. CopyBet does not have any live chat function and there does not seem to be a telephone number or email address, just a contact us form.

Is CopyBet Legal in the UK?

Yes, CopyBet is a safe and legal online sports betting site for customers in the UK. The site - set up in 2016 - has received the relevant license to operate from the UK's Gambling Commission.

Who owns CopyBet?

As CopyBet is a privately owned enterprise, little is known about the company's ownership. The site says that it is owned by CopyBet UK Ltd, which has its headquarters in the city of London.
