BetGoodwin UK Review (2023)

BetGoodwin is a new UK online sportsbook - but the site comes from a very familiar name.

Launched in 2021, the site comes from established telephone betting operator Goodwin Racing, which has enlisted the help of software suppliers FSB Technology to build its sportsbook.

BetGoodwin, therefore, has a similar style and layout to a lot of the other new UK betting sites, though its dark colour scheme is clean and helps to make it stand out from the crowd a bit.

The aim of BetGoodwin is to give its telephone betting customers another way to place wagers, "creating a multi-channel betting service all within the same account and wallet", says the firm.

While some sports fans in the UK might be unsure about joining a new sports betting site, the fact that BetGoodwin comes from known betting brand Goodwin Racing could be reassuring.

They might still have some questions about BetGoodwin before deciding whether or not to join, however, our complete review of the new UK betting site BetGoodwin has the answers.

Introduction to BetGoodwin

Goodwin Racing has been around for 25 years, so while BetGoodwin is a new UK online sportsbook, it comes from a company that has a long and proud history within the industry.

Founded as a retail unit in Uckfield in 1997, Goodwin Racing grew steadily until the company was widely considered to be one of the top operators in the country for telephone betting.

While a lot of people still like the personal touch provided by telephone betting, the rise of the internet and the ease with which it is possible to bet online have persuaded Goodwin Racing to change tack, with the launch of its new sports betting site BetGoodwin coming as a result.

A key selling point of BetGoodwin is that the company's existing telephone betting customers are able to use the same account to place wagers online at the sportsbook, and vice versa.

One of the things to note from the betting rules at BetGoodwin is that the site has a maximum daily payout of £100,000 for horse racing bets. This is substantially lower than the amount of money that many of the UK's top online sports betting sites will allow a customer to win. The maximum win for other sports is lower, standing at just £25,000 for virtual racing for example.

BetGoodwin is unlike a lot of the other new UK online sports betting sites out there in that it is fully focused on the sportsbook, with no casino side of the site offered at the current time.

So what can users expect if they sign up for an account at BetGoodwin? Let's take a look.

BetGoodwin Sportsbook Review

There is a strong focus on horse racing at the BetGoodwin online sportsbook, but football fans and those who are interested in betting on other sports will find plenty to interest them as well. In total, there are around 30 different sports to bet on at BetGoodwin, covering everything from major sports like cricket, tennis and golf through to ice hockey, handball, MMA and many more.

Horse racing betting is likely to be the main draw, however, with BetGoodwin having put a suite of promotions in place in a bid to attract fans of the sport of kings. As well as the very generous welcome bonus that can be used for horse racing betting, BetGoodwin is one of the UK's online betting sites to offer best odds guaranteed for all UK and Irish horse racing, plus dog racing.

Free bets are up for grabs if a customer sees their selections lose by a nose, or if they finish second by less than half a length in a chase race. Furthermore, anyone who backs a horse that is leading at the last fence and falls will also get a free bet up to the value of £100 as well.

However, it is worth pointing out that the betting bonuses that are on offer at the BetGoodwin online sportsbook in the UK are strongly focused on horse racing, with little else up for grabs.

With many industry experts backing esports betting to become more important in the near future, BetGoodwin has ensured it has covered this department to a decent degree. Those who join BetGoodwin can bet on a range of the top esports such as CS:GO, Dota 2, King of Glory, Valorant, League of Legends, Age of Empires and more - with markets pre-game and in-play.

Along with plenty of sporting markets, people interested in politics can bet on the outcome of the next US presidential election at BetGoodwin, as well as predicting who will be the next prime minister of the UK. However, BetGoodwin does seem to be missing out when it comes to TV and novelty bets such as reality TV shows, Sports Personality of the Year and Eurovision.

BetGoodwin also does not have live streaming available for its customers to watch. Most new UK online sportsbooks miss out live streaming, at least initially, so this is not too surprising. However, racing fans will be able to watch live streams of UK and Irish meetings on most top sports betting sites in the UK, so BetGoodwin will need to look into adding this in the future.

Live in-play betting is a strong area for the BetGoodwin sportsbook, but the interface is a little basic. As it runs on software provided by FSB Technologies, the limitations of the site are clear. Whereas other leading online sportsbooks in the UK have a raft of data and statistics for users to check out when betting live in-play, this is not at all the case at BetGoodwin, which is sparse. Those people who want a clean and basic in-play sportsbook will not be too bothered, though.

Overall, it is fair to say there is work to do if BetGoodwin is to rank alongside the best betting sites in the UK. The lack of non-racing promotions is a shame and no live streaming is also a problem that could put some off from signing up. Nevertheless, BetGoodwin's good odds and welcome bonus means it is worth checking it out.

BetGoodwin Customer Support Options

Many new UK online sportsbooks find it hard to meet the mark when it comes to customer support options and this is true for BetGoodwin, which has a fairly limited offering here.

Users who join BetGoodwin are advised to either email support@betgoodwin.co.uk or call 03333 221 321 if they have a problem with their account that needs to be resolved quickly. Unlike most betting sites in the UK these days, BetGoodwin does not even have an FAQ. A solid frequently asked questions section is a must when customer support is lacking, so people who sign up for an account here might be frustrated by how barren the site's help centre is.

There is a live chat option at the BetGoodwin online sportsbook and we tested the service out late on a Friday afternoon during our research for this complete review of BetGoodwin. It took a couple of minutes to receive a response, which is far from rapid compared to the speed on offer at rival sites, while the agent did not introduce themselves with their name, which was strange.

It actually felt as though the responses were automatically generated. This seemed unusual but the responses were adequate. Customers with a more complicated question that they require help with might find it annoying if they are unable to get through to speak to an actual person.

BetGoodwin Payment Methods

Sports fans in the UK have become accustomed to having a large range of payment methods to pick from, but BetGoodwin has a much more limited selection of options on offer at this time. Debit cards from Visa, Maestro and MasterCard can be used to make deposits at BetGoodwin. As is the case at all UK online sportsbooks, credit cards can no longer be used for deposits.

Some e-wallets are available, with Skrill and Neteller included on the list of approved payment methods at the BetGoodwin new UK sportsbook. Users who intend to sign up and use an e-wallet for their first BetGoodwin deposit should be aware they may not be able to claim the site's welcome bonus if they do opt for an e-wallet deposit, rather than picking a debit card. It is not currently possible to pay by phone bill or use cryptocurrency on the BetGoodwin sportsbook.

At BetGoodwin, the minimum deposit amount is £10.00 with the maximum being £2000.00. The minimum withdrawal amount is £5.00 and there are no fees for deposits or withdrawals at all.

As with other top UK online sportsbook sites, BetGoodwin customers will find that using an e-wallet is the fastest way to be paid out their winnings. Withdrawals to e-wallets should not take more than a few hours to be completed, whereas it could take a few days when using a debit card - although BetGoodwin's customer support advises withdrawals are processed on the same day. Users will also have to use the same payment method to withdraw funds that they chose to make a deposit, which is in line with how banking works at most online sportsbooks.
