The Tote brand has a rich history in the British racing industry and was first started by Sir Winston Churchill parliament back in 1928.
In 2011, the Tote brand was sold to Betfred then sold to the UK Tote Group in 2019. The UK Tote Group is a company that is backed by over 130 different shareholders including racehorse owners & breeders from all around the world.
For many years, the Tote was operated under the domain ToteSport.com, but the domain and website have now been “retired”. Today, Tote.co.uk is a brand new betting site that launched in February 2020 to offer pool betting with a modern, fast and user-friendly design.
However, ToteSport.com offered a full sportsbook including fixed odds bets & pool betting. But, Tote.co.uk no longer offers fixed-odds betting and focuses solely on the pool betting business.
If you are looking to place pool bets, Tote.co.uk is a solid option. But, it is important to remember you can still bet on tote pools using other UK betting sites such as bet365, Betfred, William Hill, and others.
However, tote.co.uk often has the biggest prize pools, as it has a massive customer base that just places pool bets, increasing the total pool amount much more than traditional bookmakers. It is common to see some Tote Placepots reach over £100,000 in total prize amount on the tote.
