How We Use AI on BettingLounge

AI has been the talk of the town for a couple of years now, with more and more people jumping aboard the train. While AI could definitely be questioned when it first came about, the reality today is that there are a lot of good use cases for it. There is absolutely no denying that.

We will explain how and when we use AI below, but before that, we want to make it very clear that we don't use AI for creating content. In fact, we have a strict policy against AI-generated text, keen on providing a true user's perspective through our team.

  • Spelling Correction

This is where AI is involved the most in our day-to-day operations. While our content is always 100% human-written, we do use the spelling correction tool Grammarly, which in turn uses AI to identify obvious spelling mistakes.

None of our writers uses the paid plan of Grammarly, only the free one, which ensures that only basic errors are corrected. Furthermore, Grammarly doesn't correct the mistakes itself; it simply highlights the mistakes so that we ourselves can make the changes.

As alluded to above, we believe that this is a perfect use of AI, as it helps us ensure that all of our content is presented in the best way possible. We still manually edit the content ourselves, changing phrases and whatnot, but silly spelling mistakes can sometimes slip through the net. Not anymore.

  • Image Upscaling

If you have browsed through our website, then you will know the betting sites we review each come with a logo and an icon. In most cases, there is no need for AI on this front as the betting site will either provide us with high-quality versions of the logo and icon, or we will source them ourselves.

Sadly, however, this is not always possible. Many betting sites display very small versions on their website, which look incredibly grainy when resized to the dimensions that we need them in (it's not even that high, by the way, at 520x150px for the logos).

To combat poor-looking logos and icons, we sometimes use an AI image upscale tool which significantly improves the quality. Of course, we always have to check that the tool hasn't completely distorted the logo, and we try to use it sparingly, but it tends to work really well.

Where AI Is Forbidden on BettingLounge

As alluded to above, we have a policy against AI-generated content. In our business, it's very common among competitors (who shall remain nameless) to pump out loads of content with the help of AI. This is something we are completely against and are actively voicing our concerns about.

At the end of the day, we exist to properly review and test betting sites. The only way to do that is to sign up for the bookies ourselves and then write down our own thoughts about the experience. Sending our brass tacks into AI to get a review written up, or even worse, telling it to write from scratch would defeat the whole purpose.

In the words of Bryan Adams, it has to come straight from the heart, not from AI. Considering the positive feedback we have received from punters regarding our content and this stance, we have no intention or reason to divert from this in the future.
