If you have read our other betting previews, we have looked at teams to get promoted in these areas, but in the Premier League this is obviously not a possibility, but betting on 'Top 4' finishes is an available selection, and so let's dive into a few teams.
I already covered Arsenal and Manchester City in my full Premier League 24/25 preview, so there will probably only be two other teams to make up to the Top 4. However, several teams can put forward cases for finishing in the Champions League places.
Looking to other teams, I think that Manchester United could be in with a chance of Champions League football. The Red Devils showed signs of brilliance in the latter parts of last season, and with trust in Erik ten Hag somewhat reinstalled from the management, I think they could push on this season.
Away from United, I then like the look of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool. However, I have doubt about both. Spurs were fantastic at the start of last season, and showed glimpses throughout the rest of the season, but never reached the same levels, perhaps, they can be more consistent this year, especially if they land a new striker. Then, you cannot write off Liverpool, under Arne Slot there is potential for huge growth, but whether they can make that step immediately, is difficult to call.
Both teams have immense quality, but there are things about both which unsettle me, at least currently. However, I feel they are 'smarter' or 'safer' bets than some of the other teams.
The teams in question are Chelsea, Newcastle and Aston Villa. With the Blues, there are heaps of problems at Stamford Bridge, they have spent eye-watering amounts and we're still yet to see it fully come together, and I'm not sold on Enzo Maresca as a 'Top 4' coach, at least not yet.
Villa and Newcastle also present issues for me. Starting with Villa, they have recruited brilliantly, but I don't know if they will continue to progress, and the same can be said about the Magpies. After a step back last season, I'm unsure whether they can reclaim a Champions League spot.
