Founded in 1997 by the Swede Anders Ström, who later went on to launch the betting site Kwiff, Unibet quickly became one of the most popular online bookmakers. Indeed, it has always been at the forefront of innovation and while the UK is not its biggest market, it remains a very solid choice for punters up and down the country.
The parent company was rebranded as Kindred Group in 2016, expanding its operations on various fronts, and it is now considered one of the gambling giants. We consider Unibet to be one of the best betting sites around and we were particularly impressed with the greyhound racing product when we tested it a while back.
While Unibet has no sports sister sites, it should be noted that Kambi - which provides the sportsbook for various betting sites such as BetMGM and LeoVegas - is a subsidiary company of the Kindred Group. As such, while they are not sister sites by definition, punters will certainly spot similarities between these books and Unibet - even if the latter has a different design.
Unibet was one of the first bookmakers to embrace the online aspect of gambling, realising the potential before many others. As such, at least in my opinion, the site has always been at the helm of betting innovation and that is what you love to see. Of course, the competition has certainly watched up by now but credit where credit is due.
The bookie consistently offers some of the best odds in the UK and while the bet builder is not as good as bet365's, it is one of the best alternatives for sure. There are many reasons to like Unibet, with the Uniboost promotion being another, but it would take too long to cover them all. Therefore, we will just say this: Unibet is a safe and secure bookie with a great sportsbook.
Unibet may lack sister sites, at least for sports betting, but there are some good alternatives for UK punters to use instead. Below we have listed these, including a Kambi bookmaker.
Many consider bet365 to be the best betting site around and as such, it is a great alternative to Unibet. bet365 also has no sister sites and this has resulted in a clear focus on the core product. As we covered in our review, the sportsbook is nearly impossible for any competitor to match.
The market depth is fantastic, with a great bet builder tool to make the most of this, and live streaming is offered for most sports events. Promotions such as the Early Payout are very popular among bet365 customers and the welcome offer is not bad either, but that is hardly why punters decide to stay with the bookie.
In short, bet365 is certainly a better betting site than Unibet overall, though we do recommend having an account on both in case there are differences in the football odds.
William Hill has always been a very solid choice for UK punters, no matter the sport, and it is certainly up there with Unibet. Horse racing fans in particular will know about the bookie's qualities as free live streaming is offered of the action as well as radio broadcasts, which you don't see everywhere.
The welcome offer is a good one, more specifically a bet £10 get £30 deal just like bet365, and the site also boasts several good promotions. The bet boost and epic boost are two good examples, showing that William Hill clearly cares about keeping its existing customers pleased with the sportsbook.
William Hill also offers cash out for its bet builder, which is not the case at Unibet. Having sad that, though, the two bookies are quite similar in terms of quality and features.
We would be remiss not to mention any of the Kambi betting sites here, seeing as this is the sportsbook provider that Unibet and the Kindred Group own. Most will still consider BetMGM to be one of the new betting sites around but there is nothing wrong with its reputation, having made a buzz in the United States.
The sportsbook is similar to Unibet, as you would expect, but the design is slightly different and this is worth keeping in mind. BetMGM does, however, outshine Unibet in terms of promotions for existing customers with the Golden Goals game among other things. Not to mention the generous bet £10 get £60 welcome offer (!).
There have been some issues with BetMGM, though, with customers struggling to verify their accounts and suffering from a rather poor betting app. As such, Unibet is still the best marketer of Kambi.
