Thanks to the backing of BV Gaming, Betano manages to produce a comprehensive sports betting product for UK punters. The market depth is just what you need, the welcome offer is decent and there is a praised mobile app to download. Above all, however, customer support stands out as highlighted by other Betano customers.

Does it compete with the best betting sites in the UK? No. Is it good enough to be considered above average, and subsequently, a great choice for most punters? Yes. Having said that, it is very similar to BetVictor at the end of the day so if you don't like the latter, then Betano might not be the bookie for you.

About Betano

Initially based in Austria, Betano is a well-known betting site around the world as it operates in markets such as Germany, Portugal and South America. In May 2024, the bookmaker launched in the UK with the help of BV Gaming, the company that operates sites such as BetVictor and talkSPORT Bet.

Betano is owned by the Kaizen Group, which is based in Malta, and the site has gone from strength to strength in recent years. In the summer of 2024, it was the official sponsor of Euro 2024 and this certainly helped drive new customers to the site. As if that wasn't enough, Betano is also an official partner of Aston Villa and can thus be seen in Premier League games.

Although most punters will be familiar with the style of BetVictor's sportsbook, and in turn what Betano UK has, the bookmaker does differ on a few fronts. In this review, therefore, we will take a look at everything you need to know about Betano's operations in the UK. Above all, this should help you make an informed decision about whether to sign up or not.

Is Betano Legit and Safe?

Since Betano is operated by BV Gaming, which is licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission in the UK, it is considered safe for punters to register on the site. Having said that, the bookmaker came under some heat recently as it was deemed to have been operating illegally in Germany for several years, losing against a former customer in court.

On Trustpilot, although there aren't that many reviews from UK customers just yet, Betano has a very good rating of 4.1/5. The customer support seems to be very appreciated among those that have signed up in the UK and this is certainly a good sign. Perhaps to be expected, though, as BetVictor provides customer support for the site.

Betano Promotions

It is important for existing customers to have some promotions on betting sites, so what does it look like at Betano? It could be a lot better, at least compared to some of the best bookmakers, but at least punters will be able to find many odds-boosted events. This has always been a strength of BetVictor-powered sites, so we are not at all surprised by this.

Along the same lines, the lucky dip feature has also been implemented at Betano and while this won't be for everyone, it could be fun every now and then. Aside from that, though, there are no other promotions for customers to make use of. This is certainly disappointing as we often see some kind of acca offer, such as Ladbrokes' insurance and boost.

Even if most punters will look at the welcome offer, which is quite good at Betano, there are no doubts that more promotions would have made Betano a proper contender at the top. Now, on the other hand, the site falls short a bit and that is never ideal.

Betano Deposit Methods

Punters who sign up at Betano will not have loads of payment methods to choose between when depositing funds. Indeed, the bookmaker only accepts deposits via debit card and Apple Pay, lacking popular e-wallets such as Skrill. On the other hand, it is possible to deposit as little as £5 and that - albeit standard - is very nice.

Below, we have collected everything you need to know about deposits at Betano, including the payment methods offered and details for each.

How to Deposit at Betano

Below, we have put together a step-by-step guide for depositing funds into a Betano betting account. Just to be clear, we did this on the Betano app.

  • 1

    Enter the Deposit Cashier

If you are looking to make a first deposit on the Betano app, you are prompted to do exactly this after finishing the registration process. However, to deposit after this, you can use either the quick deposit option on the home screen, or enter the cashier through the 'Profile' area which can be found in the top right corner.

  • 2

Choose a Deposit Method and Amount

Once you have entered the cashier, you will be asked to choose your deposit amount and payment method. In our test, we deposited via a Visa debit card.

    Betano deposit 2
  • 3

    Enter the Payment Method Information

The penultimate step is to enter your payment method details. In our case, we had to fill in the card number, expiry date, and security number.

  • 4

    Tap On 'Deposit'

Once the payment method information has been filled in, confirm you are the card owner by checking the box and then tap on 'Deposit'. This will complete the process which, we have to say, is very smooth.

Betano Withdrawal Methods

We have tested withdrawals on two of the BV Gaming sites, namely BetVictor and Parimatch, and we were left quite disappointed both times. Especially when we withdrew funds from Parimatch as we had to wait 19 hours for the money, despite using Visa Direct as the method. At least the minimum withdrawal amount is set at £5.

Below, we have collected everything you need to know about withdrawals at Betano, including the payment methods offered and details for each.

How to Withdraw Funds From Betano

If you are new to Betano and would like to find out how to withdraw funds, you can follow our step-by-step guide below, which we made with the help of the Betano app.

  • 1

    Go to the Withdrawal Cashier

Open up the app or the website and tap the 'Profile' icon in the top right corner of the screen. This will pull up the profile section of Betano, and then you need to tap on 'Withdraw' in the menu.

    Betano Withdrawal 1
  • 2

Enter the Amount and Tap On 'Withdrawal'

Once the cashier has been reached, simply enter your withdrawal amount and then tap the green withdrawal option. Given that we deposited £10 and withdrew it immediately - for the purpose of the test - we could only withdraw to the same method as per gambling regulations in the UK.

    Betano Withdrawal 2
  • 3

Wait for Transaction to be Completed

In our test, it took three hours for the funds to reach our bank account, making the withdrawal process very quick from start to finish. This is significantly faster than our test of BetVictor, which is a bit surprising.

Betano Sportsbook Review

Betano may be new on the UK scene, but the sportsbook provider BV Gaming certainly isn't. Combine that with Betano's experience in other markets and you are right to expect a certain standard from the site. In total, over 30 sports are available on the site and that is more than enough for the average punter.

We tested the sportsbook in the football off-season, meaning there were no competitions such as the Champions League, but the Olympics came to our rescue. There were around 100 markets per game, which is okay, but Betano certainly fails to match the best bet builder sites. Just a few markets were available for the popular tool, which is far from good enough.

Betano Sportsbook

As for horse racing, UK and Irish races can be found at the very top of the sportsbook homepage, showing that Betano and BV Gaming take the sports seriously. Meetings from all over the world are available and the ante-post selection is not too bad. Best Odds Guaranteed is in place and punters can also use the lucky dip promotion for selected races.

Betting margins tend to be overlooked by punters, as we have also explained in our betting margins guide, and this is far from ideal as it can make a significant difference in the long run. Taking a look at Betano's margins, the average came in at 8.27% in our test, which is quite high but similar to what we have seen from other BV Gaming sites.

Shifting focus from 'proper sports' for a moment, Esports has grown tremendously in recent years as many betting sites excel on that front. Betano actually has a decent selection of games, including DOTA 2 and Valorant, but it clearly isn't a huge focus of the sportsbook. Still, it will probably be enough for most punters

Special markets have also become very popular in recent years, just like Esports, with people betting on the outcome of Eurovision and more. On Betano, however, the offering for both entertainment and politics is very scarce. To wrap things up, therefore, the sportsbook is very decent thanks to BV Gaming's backing but it could also be better.

Betano Mobile App

Once again thanks to the partnership of BV Gaming, Betano was able to roll out an app very quickly for the UK market. Considering just how many punters use an app to place bets these days, this was very important and certainly strengthens the bookmaker's position on the market. The initial feedback has also been very positive.

Betano app

The Android app may have just 2.5/5 stars, but the iOS app has clearly done something right as it has 4.8/5 stars after over 250 reviews. It is far from surprising as BetVictor is considered to be one of the best apps in the UK, but there is never any guarantee for a white-label brand to be as good as the original.

Betano Responsible Gambling

Given the increase of betting sites in the UK, with almost all of these having generous offers such as bet £10 get £30, it has become more difficult for punters to contain their spending. Responsible gambling practices are thus crucial and most sites offer very good tools these days. At Betano, the following ones are offered:

  • Deposit limits (daily, weekly, monthly)
  • Time Outs
  • Gaming time reminders
  • Self-exclusion

We always recommend starting with deposit limits, 1) because they are easy to set and 2) they can make a big difference. Of course, these limits have to be appropriately set so do take some time to assess your gambling habits. If this is not enough, contacting customer support or reaching out to a third-party organisation can also be of great help.

Betano Customer Support

New betting sites in the UK often find themselves on the receiving end of customer support criticism, lacking the resources needed to cater for all of their customers. However, in Betano's case, it has been the exact opposite thanks to the backing of BV Gaming. As mentioned in the 'Is Betano Legit and Safe?' section, Betano thus does not directly manage the support.

In any case, this is fantastic news for punters who are looking to sign up and claim the welcome offer, with support ready to intervene if any problems were to arise. Unfortunately, there can often be issues when claiming sign-up deals and if that happens on sites with poor customer support, the situation is often dead in the water.
