After an interesting start to the season, Millwall have trailed off in recent weeks and after Neil Harris directed insults towards supporters, he was never going to remain in charge of the club for much longer. Now, the market has opened for his replacement.
Below are the latest betting odds for Millwall's next permanent manager at the time of this post.
Losing 1-0 at the Den to Coventry is not a terrible result. When considering that Millwall failed to register a shot on target, and had not won since beating Leeds at the start of November, it probably adds to the nerve around the club. The big issue though, was not results (at least not directly).
Following the game against the Sky Blues, Harris had a spat with some fans, and stepped down in the days following, which is quite understandable really. After all, fans are never going to side with a manager, especially after he insults them.
Let's go over the favourites to replace Neil Harris and the odds for each manager.
Mark Robins was the favourite to be appointed as the new Hull City manager recently, but the Tigers opted to go in a different direction, and Millwall could profit from this. The former Huddersfield and Coventry manager is no stranger to this league and the Lions could present a great opportunity.
Without a doubt, Robins is a builder, and with Millwall lacking much consistency on the touchline in recent years, they need stability. Robins' time at Coventry has often been heavily praised, and should Milwall bring in Robins, they could enter themselves into an exciting project.
A 6/4 price for him to become the new Millwall manager is only offered by BetVictor.

Bloomfield is, for me, one of the better managers in the EFL at present and I think that should he be given a chance with Millwall, he could do a great job. Since joining Wycombe he has transformed the team, and they are one of the best teams in League One on paper.
His side are difficult to beat, and once again, he has Championship experience whilst also knowing League One. In other words, he can see through a longer project if the Lions lack the quality to stay up this season.
With that being said though, 5/2 seems a low price given the situation his Wycombe side are in, and I'd be wary that he may prefer to stay there rather than move to a struggling side, which is maybe why his odds are on the drift.

Steve Cooper's inclusion on this list is quite shocking, to be honest, and if the Lions were able to appoint the Welshman then it would be an intriguing appointment to watch.
After a successful period at Nottingham Forest, he moved to Leicester after the conclusion of his time in the midlands, but he failed to show any progress and was recently sacked. A move back to the second tier is probable, but whether he will look to Millwall as an interesting project is unknown.
For me, 8/1 seems a price too high, and it is not an appointment that I could really see happening.

Millwall could do a Milwall, and the next favourite for the job is Gary Rowett, who was only sacked last year. Like Harris, it is a face that the fans and board know, and you get quite a regular product from him, though nothing exciting. It's not an appointment that blows you away, but maybe the Lions need that - 12/1 is an interesting price for his re-appointment.
Steven Schumacher and Michael Appleton follow as the next reasonable candidates - both at 20/1, and that is as sensible as it gets for the odds given David Moyes and Jose Mourinho are both listed on the market - maybe a bit hopeful there.

As of December 11, Millwall are best-priced at 66/1 to be relegated from the Championship in 2024-25, so there should be no reasons to be massively fearing a drop.
