Guardiola Could Leave Manchester City

It is nothing new that Guardiola is heading towards the end of his time at Manchester City. Indeed, questions about his future have been asked for the last year, maybe two.

On Monday night, the Telegraph reported that Guardiola was preparing to leave this weekend, after the conclusion of the Premier League season, calling an end to his time in England.

The news has not been confirmed by Guardiola or the club, but suggestions from respected journalists suggest that the first report is true.

So, within days of the reports that he could leave the club, odds were dropped for where he could end up. Let's take a look at the destinations that have been suggested.

Guardiola's Next Club: Options Assessed

Below, you can see a list of the different clubs that Guardiola could manage next, with several options open to him.

England National Team

It makes complete sense why the England job is the favourite for Pep's next. If Thomas Tuchel does not impress this summer, there will be questions about his future. It is only natural.

So, Pep could well be looked at as an opportunity. Having spent 10 years in England, he knows the style and what fans want to see. Maybe the FA could consider him a strong option.

Him being 9/4, though, feels a bit too much of a reaction.

Italy National Team

This is a strange one, because it would make a lot of sense, but also none. Having failed to qualify for another World Cup, Italian football is seeing somewhat of a revolution and Guardiola would be a fantastic name to bring in to prove that.

It would take a step away from the recent coaching appointments and prove the desire of the FIGC to return to the top level. At 5/2, it may be a little short, but it probably makes the most sense in this bracket.

Brazil National Team

It feels difficult to imagine him being the Brazil manager anytime soon due to their recent extension of Carlo Ancelotti's deal. Of course, international managers regularly do not last the full course of their contract.

However, Ancelotti's deal has literally just been extended. So, it is difficult to see a world where he comes into the job soon(ish).

Other options

The market, past these three, is even weirder. Barcelona are fourth favourites - but they've just extended Hansi Flick's deal - and then you've got the Spanish National Team, who are led by Luis de la Fuente (contracted until 2028).

In other words, the most obvious moves are unlikely.

A move to the MLS (just generally) is 7/1 and that feels like too much of a drop for him. PSG have Luis Enrique and why make a change for no reason? There's a reason why he's 16/1.

Argentina, Celtic, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Liverpool then follow, going from 25/1 to 50/1.

I'd steer clear of the markets at this point; prices are a bit mad and there's little to no value to be taken.
