Finishing Top 4 in the Bundesliga: Why It Matters

It has been said many times before, but for clubs that cannot rely on the TV revenue of the Premier League, qualifying for the Champions League is crucial to boost the finances. That could be the difference between signing new players and not, so the importance cannot be overstated.

The Bundesliga has four spots for the big competition, meaning the top four teams at the end of the season secure direct qualification. In the 2023-24 season, the league secured one of the two UCL bonus spots handed out by UEFA to the best associations (performance-wise) during that season.

Given the above, it could be enough for the German clubs to finish in the top 5, but it's rather uncertain and not something you will know until the later stages of the season.
