At the time of writing this, the lineups were not available to us, so I have tried to make some assumptions about the lineup, whilst only tipping players I think will start. It is worth stating here that I would not advise placing any bets until the lineups are out for both teams.
Play-off games are so difficult to call, so there is still a higher level of risk with each selection. However, I've ran through the trends from the season and feel rather confident with our choices here.
So, without further ado, let's dive into my reasoning.
The corner market could provide us with a really nice opportunity here, and it is one where I'm looking to take a bit of advantage on.
Both teams this season have only had 4.5 corners against them in less than 50% of their games, so this is something that I've taken real notice of, whilst also taking into account that in neither game this season, there has been more than nine corners (9/5)
Admittedly, this pick is slightly risky due to the number of corners that both teams average per game, with Charlton averaging around five, whilst Wycombe average four. However, I think this will be a cagey affair - as we'll get to, so corners may be limited.
Following on here, I am quite confident that the teams will go into half-time drawing, given this is a bit of a difficult game to call. Wycombe, at home, will be looking to build themselves up, I feel, after a string of bad results, so it may be more of a defensive start for them.
Furthermore, the Chairboys have gone into half-time drawing in 65% of their home games this season, whilst Charlton sit at 60% away from home. So, I think this has a good chance of sitting nicely.
Picking any player to have two shots on target is always a slight risk. However, I'd be silly not to look at Matt Godden for two here. In both games this season, the Charlton striker (Miles Leaburn on one occasion, Godden the other) has had two attempts on target, which is a fine start.
Furthering this, the English striker is likely to start this game - however, I'd also back Leaburn for two shots on target - and has had seven shots on target in his last five games from 12 attempts. I think two shots on target here is a nice pick, indeed.
I could have very easily tied the half-time draw and full-time result together, but I want to leave them as two standalone tips. Mainly because I cannot believe the price for the Addicks to win here.
Wycombe have lost four of their last 10 games, whilst the away side have lost only twice, winning six times. If there was any further reasoning needed, Wycombe have lost both games to Nathan Jones' side this season, and there is no doubt in my mind that this will only continue here.
Charlton have hit form at the perfect time, and they are massively overpriced here I feel.
Then, my last pick is going to be Greg Docherty to be carded. In a game like this, experience matters heavily, and if Charlton are leading late on in the game, he could be sought for a tactical foul to halt an attack.
Playing in a deeper midfield role, the Scotsman has made 1.42 fouls per game on average this season, including three fouls against Wycombe this season - two fouls in one game, one in the other.
I'm slightly torn on this game admittedly, as I'm unsure how both teams will look to play. Considering Wycombe's recent form, it may be a case of attempting to get through this game, providing a platform to build from. However, it could be over in the first 90.
The Chairboys have fallen off massively since the January window - something which I expected to happen - and I'm really not sold on them at present. They certainly have quality, they would not be in the playoffs if they didn't. However, there is too much inconsistency with them.
It is very much a working team, rather than one with exceptional quality, and for this reason, it will be them who decides this leg.
Charlton, on the other hand, are flying high at the moment, but they have been doing so for much longer if we're honest. Nathan Jones has his team doing brilliantly, and they are more than deserving to be coming into this game with an advantage.
However, they cannot ride their own wave, and lose focus on what could be.
