The races for the League One title, promotion places, and relegation are all beginning to take shape, and there is some good value to be found with the latest odds.

Birmingham City edge away at the top of the League

Birmingham City, as expected, are keeping on track of going straight back up to the Championship, and in recent weeks Wycombe have been the Blues' only (or maybe main) competition.

After two draws in a row, the Chairboys have seen their odds extend slightly - though not much more than they were in our last odds watch. Birmingham, on the other hand, are still available at the same price in some places, but other bookmakers have lowered their prices.

Huddersfield catching Wycombe in League One Promotion Race

As we did in the last watch, we feel it's more fitting to discuss Wycome in a promotion sense because there is more value in a promotion bet than an each-way punt on them to win the title. For example, a £5 each way (£10 total bet) would only see a £12.50 return, whereas a bet on their promotion odds (currently 11/10) returns £16.88.

So whilst the difference is not much, we think that there is more value in this market concerning Wycombe and with two draws in a row, they may be at the end of their purple patch, but they are still a force to be reckoned with. Additionally, with Matt Bloomfield in the odds to become the next Millwall manager, maybe it could be the end of their fairy-tale start to the season.

Following Wycombe is Huddersfield Town, and they are getting closer to the Chairboys with the odds now in touching distance. Their odds are shortening, and with Bloomfield's side now above evens, the Terriers are growing in popularity at the top end of the table.

Wrexham, Bolton and Stockport follow after in the odds with odds ranging from 2/1 all the way to 4/1.

The relegation zone gap continues to be forged

Whilst the League One promotion race is quite open, the relegation one is quite closed at the moment, with four teams breaking away in the market.

We showed in our last update that Shrewsbury and Burton were sinking at the bottom of the table, but since then they have continued to fall away from the pack. Both lost at the weekend, and there is now a five-point gap between them and the teams in 21st and 22nd.

After Cambridge's win at the weekend against Shrewsbury, the odds are shaping up slightly nicer, given they have distanced themselves from the bottom, whilst also getting closer to Rotherham who sit in 20th.

Northampton sit 17th in the table but still sit within the bookmakers' bottom five prices, and their odds have shortened closer to Crawley's who take up the last spot in the bookies' bottom four odds and the league table's bottom four.
