Cooper saw off various rivals to be named the new Leicester manager after Enzo Maresca was given the chance to take charge of Chelsea after a single season spent with the Foxes.
Leicester took a while to get going when the new Premier League season got under way, with fans unhappy with successful defeats after a creditable opening day draw with Tottenham. The angst levels continued to rise when Leicester needed a penalty shootout to edge past Walsall in the League Cup, but they moved up out of the relegation zone by beating Bournemouth 1-0.
Cooper will know he needs to keep Leicester away from the bottom three if he is to avoid losing his job, however, so let's take a look at some possible next Leicester City manager options.
For as long as the former West Ham United and Manchester United manager remains out of work, he will be linked with Premier League jobs whenever they happen to come up.
The Scot performed well across two spells with the Hammers but the club's fans were never completely satisfied with a tactical approach and style of play they found to be negative. But few can argue with Moyes' sterling record at London Stadium, which included a European title.
Ex-Chelsea boss Potter was said to be considered by Leicester in the summer before the decision was made to go for the former Nottingham Forest boss Cooper instead. Like Moyes, Potter is an experienced and well-liked manager who has a solid body of work to his name.
While his time at Stamford Bridge ended in disarray, Potter's reputation did not take too much of a hit amid the chaos behind the scenes. Potter has been waiting patiently for the right job to come up and a vacancy at Leicester could be the perfect moment to step back into the dugout.
Another name in the frame in the summer of 2024, West Brom boss Corberan continues to impress in the Championship. Most believe it is a matter of time until he takes the step up.
Corberan, a Spanish former goalkeeper who has also taken charge of Huddersfield Town and Olympiacos, often starts seasons well only for results to take a dip during the run-in.
Having been strongly linked to Leeds a couple of years ago, Corberan signed a contract extension taking him to 2027, so it could also prove very expensive to take him away from the Baggies.
Former Netherlands and Manchester United striker Van Nistelrooy was strongly linked with a handful of jobs in the summer of 2024, but he instead opted to join the staff at Old Trafford.
Van Nistelrooy was at one point listed as the favourite in the next Burnley manager odds and Leicester were also said to be interested in appointing him.
A return to United proved to be too appealing, but Van Nistelrooy - who previously coached PSV Eindhoven - could yet be tempted to become the next Man United manager if the right opportunity was to present itself at some point in the future.
Former Brighton and Watford boss Garcia is often linked with making a return to English football. Having had spells in charge of clubs such as Celta Vigo in La Liga, Greek giants Olympiacos and French teams Reims and Saint-Etienne, he is known to Leicester's owners.
Garcia is currently at Belgian club Oud-Heverlee Leuven, which is owned by King Power. That could make Garcia a contender to be the next Leicester manager if and when the job comes up.
