The Final Day of the Royal Ascot festival is here, and BettingLounge's horse racing expert Conlan has returned to go through some of the best bets of the day.
You can also check out our complete preview for the festival, which goes into each race and the favourites.
Below, you can find Conlan's best bets for Day 5 of the Royal Ascot. The odds were correct at the time of writing.
The final day of the Royal Ascot meeting is upon us, and with this comes my last three picks of the meeting. For my Best Bet of the day, I have chosen to go for Moments Of Joy for Ryan Moore and Aidan O’Brien, in the first race of the day, the Class 1 Chesham Stakes.
This race will take place over 7 furlongs, which this Ballydoyle filly tackled an extended 7½f trip last time out at Leopardstown, keeping on well to beat Little Sure Shot in a Maiden.
This race in previous years has provided the yard with subsequent winners of the Chesham, so this bodes well for the Justify filly. Ryan Moore will be hoping to add to his already strong list of winners at this year's meeting, and this promising talent may be his best bet of the day to do this.
Following on from Moments Of Joy, I have looked ahead to the final race of the day, the Class 2 Queen Alexandra Stakes, and I have chosen Sober.
This race is for the classy stayers of the flat quartet, and this gelding stands head and shoulders above the rest of the market. Trained by the omnipotent Willie Mullins, this horse has been seen over multiple long-distance gallops on the flat, winning over 1m7f on two occasions in Group 2 company over in France.
The pairing of Mullins and Ryan Moore has proven already fatal at this meeting, with the matchup scoring with Ethical Diamond yesterday in emphatic style.
Having already proven their potency in this race before, with Ryan Moore being in the saddle for three of Mullins’ last four winners of this race, I anticipate them to take this on with relative ease to round out what has been an enthralling Royal meeting.
For a potential long shot each way chance, I suggest you cast your eyes to the second race of the day, the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes, taking place over 1m4f. I see a lot of potential in the big-priced Bellum Justum, owned by King Power Racing and ridden by P J McDonald for Andrew Balding on the day.
This horse holds an entry in the Group 2 Princess Of Wales’s Stakes at Newmarket next month, and has form figures on ground better than good of 12312, over a variety of trips but one to note was the 2nd place finish behind Aiden O’Brien’s Jan Brueghel in a Group 3 at Goodwood last August.
The Ballydoyle colt has since staked his claim in two Group 1 races, including one over this trip, suggesting that Bellum Justum may find these conditions suitable on the day to pick up his second Group 2 title.
