After a really poor start to the season, Crystal Palace may sack Pierre Sage. So, the market for his replacement has been priced up and the Eagles could move quickly for one of the names linked.

Let's take a look at some of the names in the mix.

Crystal Palace in Crisis

After a 5-0 defeat to Brighton, questions about Pierre Sage's future are louder than ever. Not only did they lose by five goals, but it was against their biggest rivals. Regardless of what you think about the game itself, it's a terrible result.

They've lost four games so far this season, conceding 17 goals in the process - more than anyone else. It's a worrying drop-off from the team that won the Europa Conference League last season.

Their record in Europe is not bad, picking up three points from games against Lech Poznan (a 4-0 win) and Lyon (a 3-2 defeat). However, faith in them in the long term is low.

So, Palace may opt to make a change before things become unsavable. Sage is already walking on eggshells, it's fair to say and a replacement could be sought sooner than expected.

He's the second favourite to be sacked already, so things aren't looking good in South London.

Next Crystal Palace Manager Odds - The Bookies' Favourites

Let's go over the favourites to replace Pierre Sage and the odds for each manager.

Thomas Frank - 3/1

The current favourite to take over at Selhurst Park is Thomas Frank, who was last seen managing Tottenham Hotspur earlier this year.

His record with Brentford was fantastic, but he failed to match that in North London and was sacked, maybe a little early.

Nevertheless, he's been on the market since and if the Eagles job became available, he could be a brilliant fit. Football Insider reported that he's on the shortlist to replace Sage, so it's certainly possible and the short odds could be justified.

The squad is definitely there for him to work with and Palace's ambitions would likely match his own. Logically, it makes sense for all parties.

Kieran McKenna - 4/1

Over the summer, Kieran McKenna was linked with several jobs in the Premier League, but he chose to take a break from coaching.

That break could end if the Palace job were to become available again. As the Guardian recalls, Steve Parish has pursued McKenna previously, so it'd be no surprise if he were to try again if Sage left.

In fact, it seems that he'd be on the list again if the job were to become available. There is plenty to say about how the two parties would work well together on paper. It could be a match made in heaven, certainly.

Eddie Howe - 5/1

For me, Eddie Howe feels like a strange inclusion in this list. With the utmost respect to Palace, Howe feels like a level above and he's regularly being linked to bigger jobs.

For example, he's the favourite to be the next Manchester United manager; it'd also be no shock if he were to be linked with the England job in the future, too.

So, it feels tough to imagine him going to Palace or Palace going for him. At 5/1, a lot would have to fall into place for this to happen, so I'd be turning away from this idea. It just doesn't seem feasible.

The Odds Elsewhere

Away from those three, there are a few names of interest, especially after that aforementioned report from Football Insider.

Rob Edwards and Sean Dyche are just outside of the favourites currently at 6/1, but the report suggests that they both feature on the three-man shortlist, alongside Frank. There are positives to both, but it depends on the project that is sought at Selhurst Park. Dyche is the safer pair of hands, certainly, but the upside of Edwards could be greater (even if it's riskier)...

Another name of interest would be Lee Carsley, who is currently 16/1 at the time of writing this article. The 52-year-old has been linked with several club jobs in recent years and this could be the perfect job for him to leave the England set-up for.

Heading to the Championship, where Palace have looked before, Vitor Matos is a reasonable price at 16/1. His football is gaining a lot of attention, but whether he'd leave a Swansea team that are fighting for the title is something else.

Finally, Carlos Corberan could be an interesting shout at 20/1. The Spaniard's history in English football needs no words, and after leaving Valencia earlier this year, Palace could take a chance on an exciting young coach.
