Unibet is one of the largest and most popular online gambling companies in the world, and its UK operation is no exception. However, some punters might still have questions about the site and how it stacks up against the competition. In this review, therefore, we will take a look at everything you need to know about Unibet.

Unibet is a fantastic option for sports punters who want one bookie for all of their betting activities. A wide range of sports betting markets and competitive odds are offered on the site, while there is also a strong focus on customer service. It is not hard to figure out why the brand has become such a popular one among punters, in other words.
The live streaming is also quite comprehensive, competing with big sites such as bet365, and a good mobile app can be downloaded as well. On the other hand, Unibet could do with improving the welcome offer and the promotions offered, with only horse racing fans satisfied at the moment. Having said that, Unibet is indeed a very good choice for most UK punters and one that we recommend.
Founded in 1997 by Anders Ström, who also launched the new betting site Kwiff in 2015, Unibet first operated as a telephone betting company after obtaining a license in 1998. The website was put live just one year later and Unibet has since gone from strength to strength. Today, it is considered one of the biggest bookmakers in the world and not just in the UK.
With its motto 'By Players, For Players', along with some smart marketing, Unibet has indeed gained the trust of punters all over the world and offers a complete betting product. However, with so many good UK betting sites on the market, punters might still have some questions about Unibet and how it stacks up against the competition.
In this review, we take a look at everything you need to know about Unibet, from the welcome offer to the sportsbook markets offered. We also highlight the pros and cons of the site, so that you can make an informed decision about whether to sign up or not. So without further ado, read on for the full review.
Platinum Gaming Limited, which is a subsidiary company of Kindred Group - which owns Unibet and other sites - is licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission in the UK. This means that the company, and in turn the site, adheres to a certain set of rules and standards set out by the Commission. As such, it can be considered a safe site for punters to use.
The company was, however, fined almost £3m by the Gambling Commission in 2023 for social responsibility and anti-money laundering failures. Among other things, Unibet failed to identify those at risk (or already suffering from) of gambling addiction. This is not something that will attract new customers, but one can only hope that the site has learned its lesson.
On Trustpilot, Unibet has a very poor rating of 1.4 out of 5 stars, with many customers complaining about the identity verification process being too complicated. This has been a huge problem on many betting sites, especially for the new ones, and it is a bit worrying to read about. Having said that, it will not affect everyone who signs up at Unibet, though it is worth keeping in mind.
With so many good welcome offers being offered these days, also taking Unibet's long history into account, one would expect a good offer on the site. However, the bookmaker has struggled in this front for quite a long time and it was only recently that the situation improved slightly, with an offer being rolled out for horse racing.
Although the money-back bonus of up to £40 (with 3x wagering requirements) is still available on the site, punters would do best to opt for the horse racing offer instead. Betting at least £20 on horse racing (in one go) will give you £20's worth of free bets (£2x10). There are no wagering requirements either, which is great.

Taking a look at the promotions section at Unibet, it is clear that football punters will be very disappointed with the selection. In fact, there is not a single promotion for football and this is rather strange, given the sport's popularity in the UK. Horse racing punters, on the other hand, are well catered to on Unibet with many promotions for the sport of kings.
Best odds guaranteed for UK and Irish races, extra places, acca boosts and a money-back special are all offered for horse racing at Unibet. The biggest one, however, is Uniboos. This promotion allows customers to boost the odds of three horse racing bets per day! There is a maximum stake of £20 per customer per bet and only single bets are eligible. Nevertheless, a great offer overall.
This is also why Unibet earned a spot in our list of the top 10 horse racing bookmakers in the UK. Then again, a lot of sports punters will be disappointed with the promotions offering and this is something that Unibet needs to work on. After all, promotions have become a key way for betting sites to keep their customers instead of losing them to rivals.
Potential new customers will be happy to hear that there are several different payment methods to choose from at Unibet. In addition to the industry-standard debit cards, Unibet also supports payments from the e-wallets Neteller and Skrill. PayPal is not on the list, widely used on many betting sites, but this is not a huge drawback given the overall selection.
Trustly is another popular method that customers can use at Unibet, while bank transfer is also available for those who are more old school. Below, we have collected everything you need to know about deposits at Unibet: methods, minimum amount and maximum amount.

If you have not deposited funds into a Unibet account before, you can follow our step-by-step guide on how to do so below:
After opening the app and signing in, you need to head over to the ‘Profile’ section to begin the deposit process, tapping on the icon in the top right corner of the screen. Then, select the ‘Deposit’ option.
Now in the ‘Deposit’ section, you will first be asked to select your preferred payment method. There are a plethora of methods available on Unibet, so simply choose the one you like. In our test, we used a Visa debit card.
The next step is to enter the details for your payment method as well as the amount you would like to deposit. In our test, we chose to deposit the minimum possible, i.e. £5.
To complete the deposit process, tap on the yellow ‘Deposit’ button at the bottom of the screen, then you will be taken to a screen confirming your deposit, and you are ready to begin betting on the app.
While there are a decent amount of options, the minimum withdrawal amount at Unibet is generally quite high, standing at a whopping £15 for debit cards. In a time where a lot of betting sites offer £5 minimum deposits and withdrawals, Unibet is clearly behind the competition and could do with improvement on this front.
Those who prioritise withdrawal speed will likely want to use one of the e-wallets, which should provide the funds on the same day. Below, we have collected everything you need to know about withdrawals at Unibet: methods, minimum amount and processing time.
Payment Method | Min. Limit | Max. Limit | Transaction Fee | Processing Time |
---|---|---|---|---|
Visa | £5 | Not specified | No fee | 3 hours in our test |

Instant Bank Transfer | £10 | £100,000 | No fee | Within minutes |
If you are unfamiliar with the process, you can follow our step-by-step guide on how to withdraw from Unibet below:
After opening the app and signing in, you need to tap on the profile icon in the top-right corner of your screen. Then, select the ‘Withdraw’ option in the menu that pops up.
You will be presented with the different payment methods once again and if you would like to pick a different one, compared to the deposit, you will need to enter all the details again. If not, proceed with your preferred method to the next step.
If you intend to use the same payment method you deposited with, then the process is very swift indeed. Simply enter the amount you would like to deposit and tap the yellow ‘Withdraw’ option.
After tapping on the ‘Withdraw’ button, you will be taken to a confirmation screen which confirms the process is underway. It may say the withdrawal is pending, but this is by Unibet themselves rather than something you must do.
In our test, the funds arrived in the bank account within four hours - more specifically just over 3 hours - but it is possible that the process can be shorter or longer.
As with all of the batting sites that operate in the UK, Unibet has a KYC (Know Your Customer) process in place to verify the identity of its customers. Usually, this process will happen in the background - automatically - thanks to the information you provided during the registration. However, sometimes Unibet may ask customers to upload the following:
In some cases, Unibet may also ask for proof of income/proof of wealth but this is very rare. If the automatic verification fails, customers will be notified via email and will also see this in their account section, under the tab 'Verification'. Here, customers can also upload the documents requested and this is recommended over email, as the process will be a lot faster with the document uploader.
Unibet has made a name for itself thanks to a very strong sportsbook over the years, focusing heavily on innovation and new betting features, and this is still the case today. From popular markets such as football, horse racing and tennis to obscure sports like pesapello, sumo, chess and many more, the site has you covered. Not only does it have almost all the sports, but the markets in these sports are also extremely dense.
Taking a look at Premier League betting, Unibet generally offers over 300 markets and sometimes even close to 400, which is certainly higher than on most betting sites in the UK. Punters will also find that the site has a very comprehensive bet builder feature, which has all the markets you need, such as player card and player shots on target. It's no surprise that the site is present in our top 10 list of football bookies, in other words.
Aside from football, Unibet clearly has a focus on horse racing which also became clear in the 'Unibet Promotions' section. Indeed, racing has its own separate section on the site and meetings from all over the world are available to bet on. Extra places are offered regularly and punters will also find a lot of information about each race and the horses. We even named Unibet the best bookie for greyhound racing.
But as already mentioned, customers at Unibet will also be able to find great depth in the markers for the smaller sports. Snooker, for example, is one of them and Unibet is even present in our top 10 list of bookies for the sport. Albeit perhaps not a small sport, cricket is also one that Unibet covers well.
Our betting margins test, which is an important factor that many punters tend to overlook, showed an average of 6% at Unibet. This is certainly a good score and punters can thus feel comfortable that the fees charged by the betting site are not egregious. We have noticed that some big betting sites have increased their margins, so it is good to see Unibet staying at a reasonable level.
As for special markets, such as the next US election or who will be the new James Bond, Unibet is well covered with a lot of different options listed on the site. The Esports offering is also very comprehensive and that is a big plus, especially considering how many betting sites that offer Esports to a large extent these days. And in that same vein, the virtual sports section is not a let-down either.
Finally, and this is a key for many punters, the sports live streaming offering at Unibet is fantastic. Horse racing fans will have this for more or less every race, but football fans will not be disappointed with the selection either. Coupled with a rather pleasant live betting interface, Unibet's sportsbook deserves to be branded as one of the best in the industry.

As you would expect from such a big betting brand, Unibet offers an app for both iOS and Android. Most punters are used to betting on apps today, preferring the convenience and on-the-go ability, and the quality of the app can sometimes be the determining factor when choosing a betting home. So how does Unibet's app stack up against the best apps in the industry? Let's take a look.
On the App Store, it has 4.2 out of five stars but the score is slightly lower on the Google Play Store, coming in at 3.4 out of five stars. The app is regularly updated, which is very important, and we can say from experience that the app offers a pleasant experience. The design is very similar to the mobile and regular website, but this is only positive as customers will be comfortable on all platforms.
One could argue that the design is a bit dull compared to some of the other betting sites around, but the core features are the most important things anyway. And Unibet's app certainly fulfils these plus a little more. To download the app, simply head over to your app store and search for 'Unibet'. The app, which is entitled 'Unibet - Live Sports Betting' on iOS and 'Unibet - Sports Betting & Odds' on Android should then pop up.
In the last few years, the Gambling Commission has placed a greater emphasis on social responsibility and whether betting sites actively help customers avoid falling into gambling addiction. As a result, with a lot more fines being handed out, sites such as Unibet have made sure to implement tools that the customers can use. Some of these at Unibet are:
New and existing customers are urged to start with the deposit limits as these can go a long way, preventing punters from spending more than they initially had planned for. Unibet also has a very comprehensive 'Safer Gambling' page where customers can find a lot of information on the topic, including third-party resources. Those struggling are also urged to contact the support team immediately.
Unibet offers 24/7 support to its customers and there are a few different methods to get in touch with the method. First of all, when tapping on the 'Help' tab, customers will be redirected to the FAQ where they can find most of the questions answered already. However, if the answer is not present on the page, customers can tap on 'Contact' under 'Still need help?' to get the different support methods.
In addition to a live chat, which is bound to be the most popular option, customers can also contact the Unibet support team via email or even telephone. The latter option is only available between 8:00-00:00 CET and 24/7 as the other ones. Nevertheless, customers will have no issues getting in touch with the team if they have a problem.
In our test, an agent got back to us within a few minutes and although it could have been faster, this is nevertheless an okay response time. Especially when you consider that the support is available 24/7, so Unibet gets a tick in the box here. Take a look at the table below for all of the customer support details.

Unibet has been asking different verifications over 4 months. Since 28th of December 2019. I have provided them all they asked for. Copies of IDs and utility bills. They kept asking me to provide more documents which I always did. For example screenshot of a money transfer (twice) picture where I am holding ID in my hand next to my face. With 2 different IDs Then another statement which has came to my home address via local post service. And finally I had to order official proof off address with stamp and signed by Finnish authorities. They keep stalling cancelled my withdrawal attempts. Account is now frozen and I have not got any explanation why. This is worst behaviour I could ever imagine from the bookmaker. DO NOT PLAY THERE EVER
