Below, you can find Ben's tips for Paris Saint-Germain vs. Bayern Munich. The odds were correct at the time of writing.
The Champions League semi finals are here in style. To kick things off, we have a heavyweight clash between PSG and Bayern. It is certainly one of the most anticipated meetings of the competition.
For many, this game will be the decider in the Champions League and it is both a blessing and a curse that it is a semi-final. Seeing over two legs should be fantastic, but this could and maybe should be the final.
Let's dive into our tips for the game.
At the time of writing this, the lineups were not available to us, so I have tried to make some assumptions about the lineup, whilst only tipping players I think will start. It is worth stating here that I would not advise placing any bets until the lineups are out for both teams.
I've gone for some bigger prices and one smaller price to balance things out a little bit. There's a good amount of value on offer and I think this can be taken advantage of.
Now, without further ado, let's dive into my reasoning.
This should be a Champions League classic and I'm really hopeful for it and the stats would back up this hope. Indeed, both teams have conceded more than a goal per game on average in the Champions League this season, whilst also scoring 3.95 and 3.80 goals per game.
Landing in nine of PSG's 14 games this season and 10 of Bayern's 12 games, this should be the case here again.
On paper, this looks like a pretty high price for corners. However, I think it has more than a chance to come in. In the Champions League this season, Bayern Munich have averaged 10.15 corners per game. A 0.65 increase from their Bundesliga average.
PSG actually average 0.25 corners more per game in the French League. However, they still average more than nine per game. In a game this big, I think there will be plenty of corners, certainly.
Scored or assisted in 8/10 last home games, 8/10 Champions League games
Kvaratskhelia is one of the best wingers in world football and there are few players as exciting as him to watch. However, he is also one of the most consistent contributers in Europe.
With eight goals or assists in his last 10 Champions League, his record is already impressive. Adding to this, he has eight contributions in his last 10 home games. So, that consistency is already there.
I was really surprised to see this priced like it is. Indeed, Vitinha is the most attacking of the midfield three and Bayern could definitely get distracted by the forwards that PSG have.
As a result, space could open for Vitinha, who already has solid shooting stats. In his last 14 Champions League games, he has had 14 shots on target. However, this record improves at home, where he has had 10 in six games.
I think 19/10 is far too good a price.
Facing Olise, booked earlier
Michael Olise is one of the most dangerous wingers in football currently and left-backs are constantly stuck when trying to deal with him. I expect this to be the case again against PSG.
In fact, in their earlier game this season, Mendes was carded, with Olise winning two fouls. It has become a theme in the Champions League, too, with him winning an average of two fouls per game. He is a massive threat and I think Mendes could be carded once again.
Ladbrokes and Coral are offering 17/10 for him to make two fouls, which could be equally solid, though.
This is, without a doubt, one of the biggest games of the European season and you can argue that either team would be deserving winners of the Champions League this season.
Both are the best offered from their respective countries and they are enjoying fantastic squads currently. Having recently stepped away from an old core of players, the duo are seeing a new life to their teams and it is paying off significantly.
Of course, there are a few long standing servants still remaining for both. However, the stars are relatively fresh for their clubs.
With some of the best attacking talent in the world on display, this is sure to be one of the best games of the Champions League this season.
Predicted PSG XI to face Bayern Munich (4-3-3): Safonov; Hakimi, Pacho, Marquinhos, Mendes; Neves, Vitinha, Fabian; Barcola, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia
Predicted Bayern Munich XI to face PSG (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Stanisic, Upamecano, Tah, Laimer; Pavlovic, Kimmich; Olise, Musiala, Diaz; Kane
If you wish to back Ben's tips in a bet builder, Bet365 are paying 22/1, at the time of writing. It certainly could hold some value at that price!
