Read our expert insights, predictions and tips for the 2026/27 EFL League Two season as we look at odds for the winner, promotion, relegation and the top goalscorer, as well as a 1-24.
We are back for another season of predictions! Now, we're dropping down to League Two after previewing the Championship and League One in our most recent preview.
Last season, we had a torrid time getting 2/12 predictions right. However, we had a good season overall, with 38% of our outright predictions coming in and we are going to rejig things a little this year.
Instead of betting on promotion for all of the play-off contenders, we are going to look at the 'Top X market', simply for a bit more value. Of course, we will also stick with the 1-24 (and hope we do a bit better this time!).
League Two is notoriously tough to call - as seen last season with MK Dons, for example - so we will give it our best.
It is also important to note that all predictions are made with the current state of teams and potential arrivals/departures.
Picking a winner in League Two is always tough. You've got the money from League One coming down and more than ever, the money coming up from the National League.
So, there are so many things that you've got to consider.
However, my pick for the League Two title this season is money coming from inside the division.
Indeed, I think that Salford will win the league this season and the best football bookmakers agree, as proven by the fact that they are the 6/1 favourites currently.
The additions of Will Norris and Will Aimson are pretty good by themselves.
However, the signings of Macaulay Langstaff and Luke Molyneux are substantial. Both could've gone a level higher.
It's a genuinely ridiculous summer so far, and it's clear why they're the favourites this season.
Behind them, I've got Bristol Rovers and Port Vale.
Starting with the former, the Gas have lost talent, but they have recruited well this summer.
Led by Steve Evans - a master in the lower English Football Leagues - they have the squad to compete right at the top.
Last season's rejuvenation shows why they can challenge and 11/4 for a Top Three place isn't bad at all.
Then, for the other Top Three spot, I like Port Vale at 7/2.
Their second half of the season in League One was quite impressive, I felt, with them picking up 27 points in their final 23 games.
Had they had that sort of form all season, they'd have stayed up.
With quite a big overhaul this summer, recruiting talent that could even play in the third tier, I think they'll certainly challenge.
So, the 7/2 available with William Hill looks nice enough.
Below are our picks for the top end of the 2026-27 League Two season. Odds were correct at the time of writing.
Moving on from the race for a Top Three spot, we move to the play-off contenders.
Again, we'll be looking at teams to get into the Top Seven, as opposed to being promoted from League Two, just because it's less risky.
So, here we go.
Starting in fourth - and they certainly could aim higher - I've got Grimsby.
They've got one of my shouts for the Top Scorer this season and David Artell is a quality manager.
No team got more points than the Mariners in the second half of the season, and if I had to play a promotion bet this season - outside of the first three - I'd look at the 11/4 with Ladbrokes.
Chesterfield were one of my picks for promotion last season and they just missed out.
However, I don't think they'll be out of the race.
They still have the finances to compete at the top of the division, and the recruitment so far this summer has shown as much.
Another team who I think could come on a little bit this season is Barnet, who finished in seventh last season.
They have made some really interesting signings this summer, and whilst there have been some big losses, I don't think they'll be too affected.
Finally, I think York City will be aiming for two promotions in a row. They won the National League last season and they could continue that trajectory.
When you look at the recent teams to have been promoted from the fifth tier, they have gone on to challenge quite quickly after and York have certainly got the budget to enter the conversation.
Below are our picks for the top six race in the 2026-27 League Two season. Odds were correct at the time of writing.
Last season, the League Two relegation battle was exceptional. So, picking out someone to go down this season is not an easy task.
You can certainly pick out quite a few worries, and that makes it difficult to rank them.
But, here we go.
In last, I've gone for Newport County. They stayed up by the skin of their teeth last season and they might not be so lucky this time around.
More experience has been added this summer, but you're still not looking at the squad with much positivity.
Additionally, the departure of Christian Fuchs doesn't fill you with confidence.
QuinnBet offering 2/1 for them to go down seems about right.
Then, I think Crawley Town could head to the National League. Again, they struggled last season and stayed up late on.
However, I'd be surprised if they were out of the conversation this year.
They have replaced a lot of experienced names from last season with youngsters and that is a major risk for a club that teetered on the edge last season.
It could well pay off, of course. But, I'd not back them confidently. 4/1 with Sky Bet is quite an attractive price.
As I said already, picking out the relegated sides this season is tough.
Especially when outside of the drop zone, as you'll see, I've got (at least) three teams that could also go down.
So, I'd keep an eye on the prices of Accrington Stanley, Cheltenham Town and Exeter City.
It's not exactly bold tipping, considering all five are below 6/1, but that just shows that this season could go any way.
The current favourite in the League Two top goalscorer markets is Macauley Langstaff at 3/1, and that may be right.
However, I've wanted to look at some interesting picks that could return with E/W places...
Starting off, I really like the look of Jaze Kabia to be top scorer. The Grimsby striker got 18 goals last season, and I think he could improve further.
Only Aaron Drinan outscored him last season - by four goals - and with him missing 20 big chances, he certainly could and should've scored more.
I think 14/1 is incredibly generous and gives us a fair E/W price.
Then - and I'm aware this is a bit rogue - I'm really intrigued by Ellis Harrison's odds.
At 66/1, he could well be the Gas' starting striker and that is already something of intrigue.
With 11 goals last season in 23 starts, he could well improve drastically this season.
Of course, it's a much bigger risk than Kabia is. However, he could offer us some massive value this season.
In the past five seasons, 16, 17, 22, 17 and 19 goals have been enough for E/W placings. So, this is worth considering when thinking about placing these bets or your own.

Finally, we're going to look at some value selections and I'm once again looking at the 'Top Region' markets.
Starting off, we're going for Salford to be the Top North West Club in League Two this season.
At 5/4 with Bet365, I think this looks like incredible value, considering there is not much major threat to them this season in the division, let alone the North West.
Then, I like the look of Bristol Rovers to be the Top South West Club.
At 10/11, we're still getting a very generous price, considering Exeter and Cheltenham Town - the other teams in the market - are some of the favourites for relegation.
For a little bit of fun, I have also tried to put together my 1-24, which can be seen below. A difficult task indeed, but let's give it a go!
