Latest League One Odds: One Perfect, One the Direct Opposite

The second weekend of the 2026/27 League One season has officially been and gone, so we can now look at the market and how it's reacted to what we saw on Matchday 2.

Perfect Record For One

At the top of League One, there were a few nice results, it must be said. Of course, there were a few curveballs, but you'd expect that to a degree.

We're still in the early moments of the season, so there will be further changes. However, you may be able to make a few decisions on certain teams now...

Bradford City Lead the Way

At this moment, we cannot look at anyone else in this spot. Indeed, we have to look at the Bantams, who are the only team in League One to have won both of their games so far.

A 1-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough is a huge result by itself - considering the Owls have been one of the favourites for promotion this summer - nevertheless, it means they have a two point gap already.

Building a bit of protection for yourself in the early stages of the campaign is massive and the Bantams are already doing that. Considering they're yet to concede, too, it's great.

For Wednesday, it's a frustrating result in their first home game of the season. Of course, it's not definitive, but this was a great chance to prove that they are a class above.

As a result of the loss, the Owls are now as high as 14/1 to win the division with SpreadEx... talk about being the best price. For Bradford, those three points have them as the 10/1 third favourites to lift the title!

Leicester City Look Troubled

When Leicester came down, most thought that they would be heading straight back up. It should've been a pit stop year for them on paper. However, they're in potential bother.

Russel Martin's football hasn't shown sides of working just yet, with them drawing and losing their two games in the division so far. This weekend, it was Burton Albion who beat them, so they're more than vulnerable.

One of the favourites for relegation beating you at home, not good at all.

Huddersfield Pick Up Big Point

After another summer of spending, Huddersfield Town need to get it right this year and they seem to be doing the right things currently, picking up a big three points on the opening day.

However, they couldn't follow it up with three more on Matchday 2, settling for a draw. There are suggestions that they should've had a goal - after a shot from Joe Taylor appeared to go over the goal line - but they'll take a point.

10/1 is available for them to win the league...

Game of Spells for Luton

Dropping from second to third now, we have another Town and this time, it's Luton. The Hatters could certainly be favourites for the league currently with how Leiecester are doing and a switch may come soon.

Like Huddersfield, after an opening day win, they could only draw in their second game. Notts County have now got draws against the two favourites for the league, so you can't be too frustrated.

However, they can maybe annoyed at how the game went. They took the lead, lost it, went behind and then equalised, with both sets of goals coming in short periods.

Luton are in a great spot and they could well be heading back to the Championship soon if they continue like this.

No Wins for the Play-off Favourites

Given how many teams we looked at in the first section, we're going to look at less teams in this 'bracket'.

Of course, the sides mentioned in the title category could well be involved in the play-off race later on and vice versa.

For now, though, we're looking at them in regards to a Top Six spot.

Stockport Fall in Local Rivalry

After a big win last week, Stockport County certainly could've had conversations about the title had they beaten Blackpool on Matchday 2. However, they were unable to do so.

Indeed, they fell two goals behind in the first half and coming back from that is always going to be a tricky one...

Despite that, they remain around 6/4 for a Top Six spot (with the best football bookmakers) and they can certainly be considered a challenger.

Plymouth Off the Mark

After a defeat in their first game of the season, Plymouth needed to get back going with a win. Nevertheless, they were held by Wycombe Wanderers, who could also be a play-off contender.

Taking the lead midway through the first half, they held on for 50 minutes before eventually conceding an equaliser. It's a frustrating result again and they actually sit in the bottom three currently.

You'd imagine they'll get out of there eventually, though.

Dons Earn Point Against Huddersfield

We've already discussed MK Dons a little in this article, so we won't go into them too much again. However, they are certainly making a case for themselves at the 2/1 mark for a Top Six spot.

Draws against Oxford United and Huddersfield are not bad at all, especially with them only just coming up. In other words, they could well have aspirations of another promotion.

Points All Round at the Bottom

Finally, we move to those who could be at risk of a drop to League Two this season.

Of course, it's early doors, so the teams listed here are not definitive. Things can change quickly, as we have seen in previous years and maybe even this year...

WimbleDraw on Matchday 2

After a battering last weekend, Wimbledon needed a result to prove that they wouldn't be this season's castaways and they certainly got one. At home to Reading, they did that, earning a respectable point.

One of the games of all time, the Dons created just 0.34 xG, with only one big chance. It's certainly not a great sign for a side who didn't score last weekend and if they can't score goals, they'll be pretty doomed.

Sky Bet are offering 6/5 and with some bookmakers already going to below Evens for them to be relegated, it's problematic...

East Side (of the Midlands) is the Best Side

When Burton saw Leicester in the calendar on the second weekend, they probably didn't feel too great. However, three goals later - two of which came for them - they certainly will feel great now.

Beating the promotion favourites away from home is a huge result for a side who have seemed pretty doomed this summer.

Again, it's the Flutter sites offering the best price, with Paddy Power offering an industry best 5/2 on them to go down. They've certainly drifted a bit!

League Two sides meet again

A win on the opening day and a draw on Matchday 2, this League One stuff is alright for Bromley and Cambridge, isn't it. They sit level on points with Burton Albion on four currently.

The bookmakers have Bromley as the second favourites for the drop, but Cambridge have a bit of leeway at 4/1 to go down, as opposed to the 2/1 for the hosts this weekend.

Both are in a solid place so far...

Peterborough Shut Me Up!

Last week, I said Peterborough could be in for a rough season. Well, a win against Mansfield has certainly shut me up a little bit. Opening with a solid enough win last weekend, the Stags probably came into this game thinking they could grab another.

However, a 93rd minute winner from the Posh killed those hopes. It's a huge result that relights a bit of optimism for them after a tough week. Maybe things will quieten down on social media a little...
