Betzone is a relatively new betting site in the UK, first launched back in 2021. The site is operated under a white-label solution and punters are right to expect a decent sportsbook. However, how does Betzone actually stack up? In this review, we will highlight the pros and cons of the site, helping you make an informed decision about whether to sign up or not.

Betzone is to be considered an okay betting site, but nothing more, with a mere 20 sports on offer and some notable omissions such as Esports and special markets. And while the sports welcome offer may sound good at first glance, we have never been fans of offers that rely on losses. Not to mention that the payment methods selection is shockingly poor compared to the competition.
Having said this, Betzone has a good welcome offer for the casino - offering 20 free spins after staking £10 - which could be worth signing up for. However, even though the casino section as a whole is decent and certainly better than the sportsbook, players would probably not want to stay after claiming the welcome offer.

Betzone was launched in 2021, becoming one of several new UK online sportsbooks released to capitalise on the recent boom in online gambling interest. The site is operated by Playbook Gaming Ltd and thus has several sister sites in the industry, with Planet Sport Bet being one of them. Albeit mainly focused on sports, Betzone also has a casino section for those who are interested in that.
The history of Betzone actually extends the online operations, though, as the owning company Bet21 Limited was first established back in 1973 and had betting shops in the country. However, this is not really that relevant when taking a look at today's product, as everything is provided by Playbook and the style has nothing to do with Betzone's past.
Having said all of this, punters will most likely want to know more about the quality of Betzone. In this review, therefore, we take a look at everything you need to know about the site. We also have a verdict at the top of this page, which should help you make an informed decision about whether to sign up or not.
The Betzone site is owned by Bet21 but it is operated by Playbook Gaming Ltd under a white-label solution. The latter company, in turn, is licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission in the UK. This means that it is fully legal for sports punters to use. Playbook is also the company behind various other UK online betting sites, such as BresBet which we have a review of.
The license is no guarantee for a good experience, though. Taking a look on Trustpilot, Betzone has a very poor rating at 1.7 out of five stars, with over 80% of the reviews being one-star ones. Most of the reviewing customers have complained about the verification process, with some having their accounts suspended despite having winnings in them. Knowing Playbook sites, punters need to be wary of this.
New customers who sign up at Betzone can claim a bonus of £10, consisting of a £5 free bet and free spins, though £30 must be deposited and staked to unlock it. This is far from brilliant, of course, as many betting sites now offer bet £10 get £30 deals and it's not like £30 is a common betting sum for a single bet.
The £30 bet must also be staked at a minimum odds of evens (2.00), which means there is a significant risk that the punter will lose the entire amount. There are no payment method restrictions for the offer, but that is simply because Betzone only accepts deposits via debit card. In short, it is not one of the best welcome offers around.
Operator | Welcome Offer | Bonus Code | Claim Offer | |
---|---|---|---|---|
| Welcome Offer 50% Back as Free Bets Up to £60 & 60 Free Spins | BETZONE60 | Claim Offer | 18+ | New Customer Only – Promo Code: BETZONE60 required | 50% back on net LOSSES over your first 3 calendar days | requires min 3 x£10 qualifying bets in same 3 days | Certain bet types excluded | Min return £1 free bet | Deposit and Wager £30 on selected Welcome slots | Free spins value 60 x 10p | T&Cs apply | Available until 23:59 on 31/01/25 | UK residents using debit card | Please gamble responsibly |
The welcome offer at Betzone was far from impressive, so what about the promotions? The story is more or less the same, even if there are some promotions that might come in handy for customers. For example, selected football games are available for the 'Snore Draw' promotion, with punters getting 10 free spins if they bet £10 on a game that ends 0-0 after 90 minutes.
Horse racing punters can get up to £10 back as a free bet if the horse they backed finishes in second place by a nose, though only in UK and Irish flat races. The same deal applies to beaten by a neck for UK and Irish jumps races. Most notably, however, the industry standard best odds guaranteed promotion does not seem to be in place at Betzone and this is a huge omission.
Finally, those who place a £10 bet on a Premier League darts game will get a £5 free bet if a nine-darter is thrown in any of the games, which is a nice addition. Overall, however, Betzone severely lacks on the promotions front and is far from the best UK betting sites in that sense.
Payment methods at Betzone are unfortunately limited, especially when compared to the large raft of options that are in place on most betting sites. UK players will know by now that credit cards cannot be used to make deposits for online gambling anymore, but deposits with PayPal or other e-wallets such as Skrill and Neteller are not possible either.
This makes the selection at Betzone very limited, with only debit cards and bank transfer on the table. Although it is not much, we have collected the key deposit details of Betzone below:
Payment Method | Min. Limit | Max. Limit | Transaction Fee | Processing Time |
---|---|---|---|---|
Visa | £10 | Not specified | No fee | Instant |
Mastercard | £10 | Not specified | No fee | Instant |
Bank Transfer | £10 | Not specified | No fee | Instant |
Just like deposits, customers will not have a lot of options when it comes to withdrawals at Betzone, with only debit cards and bank transfer on the list. The bookie states that a withdrawal could take 2-5 business due to normal banking procedures and while the latter is true, punters in the UK are now used to sites with fast withdrawals.
In short, punters are likely to be disappointed with the options here and it certainly warrants opting for another bookmaker. In any case, we have collected the key withdrawal details below:
Payment Method | Min. Limit | Max. Limit | Transaction Fee | Processing Time |
---|---|---|---|---|
Visa | £10 | Not specified | No fee | 2-5 business days |
Mastercard | £10 | Not specified | No fee | 2-5 business days |
Bank Transfer | £10 | Not specified | No fee | 2-5 business days |
There is a verification process in place at Betzone, as is the case with all sites licensed by the Gambling Commission, and this is simply to confirm the identity of the customer. Usually, this can be done using the information provided in the registration form. However, Betzone may need to ask some customers to upload one or more of the following:
Customers who need to provide additional documents will be contacted by Betzone, or it will show in the 'My Account' section of the site. It is important to comply with this process as failure to do so could result in an account suspension. And as discussed in the 'Is Betzone Safe?' section, past customers have complained about the verification process so keep this in mind.
Given that Betzone is operated by Playbook Gaming, punters can at least expect a decent sportsbook with just over 20 different sports to bet on. That is indeed a bit lower than the usual numbers, though, with most betting sites aiming for 30 or even more. Nevertheless, the popular sports football and horse racing can be found as well as smaller ones such as Gaelic football and rugby.
Taking a look at Premier League games and odds, which is often a good place to start, there are around 250 markets for punters to bet on and this is certainly decent. Not as many as you would find on the best football betting sites, but still good. There is also a bet builder feature that can be used but this lacks some important markets, and cash-out is not eligible when building bets at Betzone either.
The betting margins are also important to take a look at, as these can make a big difference in the long run. Essentially, the betting margin is a fee that the bookmakers charge for letting you place a bet. Our test showed that Betzone has an average of 6.84%, which is certainly okay as we have seen a higher average for some more prominent bookmakers.
As for horse racing, which is also very popular among UK punters, Betzone has a decent coverage of the UK and Irish races, especially since streaming is offered for these meetings as well. However, only some international races are offered, as evidenced by the fact that Betzone has lumped these all together in an 'International' category and not individual countries. Best odds guaranteed is also missing, despite being standard on every serious horse racing betting site.
Given that the sports offering is relatively weak, you would at least expect Betzone to make up for this on other fronts. However, while there is an okay section for virtual games, betting on Esports is not possible and customers will not find any special markets either. This is a huge disadvantage of the Betzone sportsbook as a lot of people are looking for odds to bet on different TV shows these days, for example.
Overall, therefore, Betzone's sportsbook is nothing more than okay and punters who want great variety should definitely look elsewhere.

Mobile apps have become increasingly important for betting sites, with most punters preferring convenient on-the-go betting, and Betzone has made sure to follow this trend. Indeed, there is a Betzone app both for Android and iOS, which is developed by Playbook Gaming and thus has the same design as the sister sites.
The app appears to be straight down the middle, with a rating of 3.4 and 3 out of five stars on the App Store and Google Play respectively. However, it is probably fair to say that it should not be regarded among the best betting apps in the UK. Still, it is nice to see that a new betting site can at least come up with a decent app.
It should also be noted that the app has a very similar design to the mobile website, so those who prefer to use the latter will not miss out on anything special. If you do want to download the app, simply head over to your app store and search for 'Betzone'. Then, the app should show up.
In recent years, the Gambling Commission has been clamping down on social responsibility failures and as a result, sites have placed a great emphasis on responsible gambling. Several tools are now available on most betting sites and these can go a long way in preventing gambling addiction. Some of the ones at Betzone include:
Deposit limits are a great place to start, as we often say, as these can go a long way to preventing unwanted spending. There is also a page on responsible gambling at Betzone, called 'Safe Zone', where customers can find good information on the matter. Links to third-party organisations are there, for example, and punters who are struggling are urged to contact customer support immediately.
Customer support is an area where some new UK online sportsbooks have been known to fall short. When budgets are tight, the support department is one that often falls in the spotlight for cuts. And while Betzone states that it prioritises customer support, one can certainly question that as there is no live chat option on the site.
This means that punters will have to rely on sending emails to the support team, with response times taking up to 72 hours. It is hardly justified to call it 24/7 customer support, in other words, and this is something that Betzone must improve (among many other things) to compete. Of course, there is a FAQ section on the site but this is far from revolutionary.
We have collected the main information about Betzone's customer support in the table below:
Chat | No |
