List of Betfair Sister Sites & Offers

Betfair is part of Flutter Entertainment and has several sister sites in the UK including Paddy Power, SkyBet, Pokerstars and tombola.

However, we are not currently recommending Betfair as a bookmaker to join, but, it is impossible to knock the hold they have over the UK betting industry.

The sheer presence they have shows they must know what they're doing somewhere along the lines. Here we review some Betfair sister sites to see how they measure up.

Who Owns Betfair?

Betfair joined forces with Paddy Power in 2016 with Flutter Entertainment PLC born as a result; Flutter is the owner of Betfair.

Despite that ownership, Flutter is not the company attached to Betfair's UKGC licence. That is spread across five different companies, all of which are detailed below:

  • Betfair Casino Limited (UKGC: 39435)
  • PPB Counterparty Services Limited (UKGC: 39439)
  • PPB Entertainment Ltd (UKGC: 39426)
  • PPB Games Limited (UKGC: 39411)
  • TSE Malta LP (UKGC: 39561)

With a host of experience under it's belt, there should be a lot of learnings for Betfair sister sites to build from, shouldn't there?

What Are Betfair Pros and Cons?

Betfair is a huge brand in the UK betting market with the marketing department responsible for a mammoth part of that success. It isn't all hot air though. There are positives to be had within the platform with a mobile app available, vast payment options and a strong sportsbook to explore.

Unfortunately, the negatives at Betfair outweigh those positives. In fact, we don't recommend punters join Betfair at this moment in time courtesy of a series of negative reviews and some pretty big failings from a licence and operation perspective.

From a more day-to-day angle, the sports betting margins are appalling. Our test put them at 16.72%. For context, even if you cut that in half, it would still be a red flag.

Best Betfair Sister Sites & Alternatives Reviewed

If Betfair is a banging brand that still somehow struggles to boast a beautiful betting platform, what hope is there for its sister sites?

Well, there are still some huge names to bring your way in this Betfair sister site rundown so, stick around and find out if there are better alternatives for you to explore.

Pokerstars casino logo

Pokerstars

Pokerstars is a brand name that immediately leads you into thinking about a casino, rather than a sportsbook which is perhaps your first thought with the other brands we've mentioned here.

You won't be disappointed by the casino offering at Pokerstars either; it is excellent with table games, including but not limited to poker variations, perhaps the real standout.

There is a sportsbook to explore too though and, maybe controversially, we'd call it the best of those referenced here.

The available markets aren't quite as deep for your truly hardcore sports bettors but a more casual punter will be more than content with the depths available, and margins 6.12% dwarf its sister sites.

PokerStars Poker

Courtesy of Pokerstars falling under Stars Interactive Limited (UKGC: 39108), it doesn't have the same Gambling Commission black marks either.

Paddy Power logo

Paddy Power

Paddy Power is the most recognisable Betfair sister site, largely owing to that aforementioned merger of the brands back in 2016.

The colour schemes of the two sites are wildly different but, actually, when you cast a close eye you really can see the crossover. Unfortunately, that doesn't make it a positive story.

The big headline is that Paddy Power has suffered from the same bad press as Betfair, where their licence responsibilities are concerned whilst they too have seen a host of negative reviews over recent times.

If you are willing to look past those issues, which we wouldn't recommend doing, then you probably do end up in a better place.

For starters, you'll get Best Odds Guaranteed on Paddy Power horse racing, which you don't at Betfair.

You will also see greatly improved betting margins with our test coming in at 7.63%. That isn't something to write home about, but it is passable compared to most other online operators.

Paddy Power Sportsbook Football

SkyBet

Sky Bet is another gargantuan brand that falls under the ownership of Flutter Entertainment and you are starting to see signs of its relationship to Betfair of late, with some site structure similarities flowing through. That isn't something that has been particularly well received.

SkyBet Home

At least Sky Bet (UKGC: 38718) don't suffer the same negative view from the Gambling Commission though.

What's more, betting margins of 7.70% are just about the right side of acceptable too, which is another advantage over Betfair. It still enjoys the positive side of good sport coverage and market depth as well.
