Love Island is a British "dating" reality series that airs on ITV each summer, and recently a winter series, but that has been cancelled due to the recent pandemic. A
As the show gained massive popularity, betting sites started to offer a wide range of Love Island betting markets including the winner of the series, next person to be eliminated, top man, top couple, top woman, and many more.
Love Island puts a group of contestants, known as Islanders, in a villa in Mallorca, living in isolation and constantly under video surveillance. The contestants must be coupled with another Islander to survive in the villa, and the winning couple receives £50,000. On the first day in the villa, Islanders couple up for the first time, but over the series, they can decide to remain in their current couple, or swap and change.
Any islander who remains single after the "coupling" is eliminated from the show. Also, Islanders can be eliminated by a public vote, and there are public votes for their favourite couple throughout the series on the Love Island app. Couples who receive the fewest votes risk being eliminated from the show. There are sometimes twists in the show, which involved the islanders voting on who leaves, but during the final week, it is only a public vote for which couple wins the series, and the £50,000.
While in the villa, islanders have phones in which they can contact each other via text, or receive texts informing them of challenges, recoupling or dumping. Throughout the series, islanders take on various games and challenges, and the winners get special prizes.
