Ligue 1 2026-27: Betting Predictions, Top Scorer, 1-18 and Odds

Ligue 1 football returns next week and that means it's time to go through the league again!

Last season was not our best, getting 3/7 predictions right. But, we had a solid year overall, with 38% of our outright predictions coming in. All in all, a pretty similar average.

Ligue 1 is notoriously tough to get much value from, so it's best looking at our other previews if you're looking for the big money prices. Here, unfortunately, you won't find that.

It is also important to note that all predictions are made with the current state of teams and potential arrivals/departures.

Who Will Win the Ligue 1 Title?

Well... do we need to say anything more than PSG?

I've normally been quite long with my intros to these parts, but I just don't really feel the need to with Ligue 1. It feels like a spot kick without a goalkeeper from six yards.

Something would have to go monumentally wrong for the league title not to remain in Paris. They've invested heavily again this summer, adding some nice pieces to the best squad in Europe.

So is it really a shock if they win it?

Last season they were 1/8 and they are even more backable this season at 1/6. I'd still hold off a bet - simply on value, I don't want to personally sit on a 1/6 over a season - but it's a near guarantee in my view.

Who Will Finish Top 3 in Ligue 1?

Picking the top three in Ligue 1 consistently feels like one of the bigger challenges in my previews and it's no different this year. Indeed, there's little or lots of movement and there's very little consistency.

So, you really need to weigh everything up and this can lead to some of the odds being bigger.

Now, in second, I've gone for Lyon and I think they'll be the biggest contenders for the league title this season, if not for PSG, of course.

They've made some really nice signings this summer, strengthening across the board and whilst losing Endrick and Afonso Moreira is big, they have replaced their contributions well I feel.

Julian Duranville is a very solid winger, with bags of potential, whilst Mads Bidstrup and Felix Bacher add quality deeper on the pitch. My biggest tick, though, comes from Lois Openda.

The Belgian striker struggled in Italy, but he should thrive in France and I think he could be a great pick for a top goalscorer.

At almost 3/1, I think this is an incredible pick on value alone and with BetVictor offering 6/1 for them to win the league without PSG, I'd even be tempted to have a nibble at that...

Then, I've gone for Lille, who have had another good summer, this time under Davide Ancelotti - son of the legendary Don Carlo - and whilst it's a risk, I think 2/1 is a nice price for us to look at.

Their squad is largely unchanged, which is always a good thing, but they have added some quality in the form of Başar Önal and Tanguy Nianzou. It's not major, but I don't think it'll need to be.

If Ayoubb Bouaddi is to depart this summer - with Manchester City heavily interested - things could change slightly, but they'd also have a lot to play with. So, I'd back them to replace him well enough.

It's perhaps a tad more of a risky pick, even though the odds are lower, but I think that solidifies my top three.

Why Them?

When you look at the others, Marseille have lost their biggest source of goals and neither Timothy Weah, nor Hamed Traore inspires me to think that they'll be as good as last season.

Then, I think Monaco and Lens will struggle too, after sales of big stars to the Premier League. Both have taken gambles with their replacements, so they're not hopeless. However, I think my two have the proven quality.

Who Will Be Relegated From Ligue 1?

Picking relegated teams is never 'easy', but there are certain leagues where it's easier.

Ligue 1, thankfully, is one of them.

The money in the French top division is not great, but once you adapt, you remain comfortable for a while. It's why the same teams stay up and the same teams tend to bounce around a bit.

So, it's all about adapting.

Starting bottom, I've got Le Mans, who I think have very little hope of adapting in all honesty. They've not spent a penny this summer and that already sends alarm bells around my head.

Even the players that have arrived, you're not looking at them as players you want in a dog fight. You need a touch of quality and I just don't think they have that. Hence why they are under Evens to go down this season.

Then, I think Troyes will follow them. It's a double relegation prediction, it's perhaps a bit boring, but I think it's got a good chance. Troyes have seen some money spent this summer, but it has only been €2 million on Patrick Beach, a goalkeeper from Melbourne City.

However, they've lost Mathys Detourbet - a highly rated winger - to Manchester City, as well as Martin Adeline and Sankhoun Diawara, who were both impressive young players in the squad.

Again, they've not replaced these figures well enough (or even enough). So, it may already be fair to deem them as good as gone...

Finally, I think Angers could succumb to the drop - but this is riskier with the play-off system in France.

They collected 14 points in the second half of the season, only beaten by two clubs (Nice and FC Metz) and no one scored fewer goals than them with nine. Even Metz, who didn't win a single game in the second half of the season, scored more.

After losing Sidiki Cherif - who was sold for around €18m - they have spent €250k. In other words, their squad has taken a hit and nothing is being done to replace the quality.

You'd fear for them.
