At the top end of League Two, it was wins galore this weekend, and several teams have been left happy. However, there has also been some movement at the bottom of the league.
The title race in League Two is one of our favourites right now, simply due to how many different teams are scrapping for glory. Right now, the leading team is Walsall, and it certainly could have been a bit more of a solid lead had they not drawn this weekend.
Against a pretty poor Shrewsbury side, the Saddlers dropped two points - which would have seen them have a four-point gap at the top - and this will only be a frustration for the fans who are still recovering from last season.
Their worries have certainly not been aided by Notts County, who have taken the league by storm recently. With three wins in their last three games, they have to be considered as the main contender for the title at this rate, and 13/2 with SpreadEx is a little tempting, admittedly.
More impressively, their latest victory came against Grimsby, who have been well in the promotion race this season. However, their recent form has been poor, and the Magpies took advantage, taking three points via two goals.
Swindon are also fighting for the title, and they provided us with a winning tip this weekend, as they beat Bristol Rovers 3-0 in Saturday’s early kick-off. A nice win against a struggling team isn’t the mark of champions, but it certainly helps get there.
With that said, their recent form is not as strong as Notts County's or Walsall’s, so I’d be a little reluctant to back them for the title at this point.
Below, we have collected the top teams - aside from the big favourites - and their respective odds to finish top 7 in the 2025/26 League Two season.
There is a very strong part of me that says Bromley should be included in the title section, and it may be right. The Ravens have been fantastic in recent weeks, winning four of their last five games and looking past them is difficult.
Their latest result was a 1-0 win away to Accrington Stanley, certainly not the most attractive result of the weekend. However, the best teams get through by any means necessary, and they did that.
It may be worth keeping an eye on their price, but even the 4/7 available for a top seven finish is not terrible at all.
MK Dons remain in the conversation for promotion to League One, but they have not been as dominant as many expected that they would be. Although it was against another side around the play-offs, these are games that they would be expected to win.
Elsewhere, Salford have returned to form recently, winning two of their last three, and they need to be commended for beating a pretty decent Colchester side. It was not pretty, nor was it a ‘good’ result, really.
However, they got the job done, and whilst there are several flaws in their performance, they still got three points.
Taking the final spot on the top seven is Chesterfield, and like MK Dons, many expected them to be in a better place for the season. Instead, they have been very hit and miss, but still remain in the conversation.
Crewe, Cambridge and Gillingham are all also in the mix. Nevertheless, they are picking up far too many draws to earn a play-off spot at this moment.
They are certainly not out of the race, not at all. With that said, they need to win more games, and then they may even be able to consider posing a threat towards the automatic spots…

Newport, as many will have expected, remain in the bottom two after this weekend, after their 2-0 defeat to Fleetwood. Christian Fuchs’ start to life has certainly not been great, and as his side went down to 10 this weekend, it seemed like their already likely fate increased.
They are just not getting the points or performances required, and whilst there are other bad teams in the division, this seems like too big an obstacle.
Then, after weeks of flirting with a drop into the bottom two, Bristol Rovers now find themselves in the dropzone. It comes after a hammering against Swindon - who are certainly a good side - but, the lack of threat from the Pirates is concerning.
They have now lost 10 League Two games in a row and conceded the most in the league. To be really brutal, they already look like they are down. Some drastic changes are needed, and that even feels like it is underselling it.
I do not understand how bookmakers can see their recent form and have them at 5/1 to go down...
Harrogate actually escaped the bottom two this weekend, thanks to their draw against Cheltenham - who were partnered with them at the bottom for quite a while - but they are certainly not out of danger, as bad as the two below them are.
Crawley, additionally, are not out of the relegation conversation. They have a point gap, which feels much greater considering how bad everyone is at the bottom, as harsh as it may be.
