Have Leeds blown it? Ipswich now favourites in Championship promotion betting odds

Ipswich Town are clear favourites in the Championship promotion betting odds after Leeds United suffered a shock loss at the weekend to cede their advantage going into the last week.

Leeds handed Leicester City automatic promotion on a plate when they slipped to a 4-0 defeat at Queens Park Rangers on Friday night, but Ipswich failed to fully capitalise on that loss. The Tractor Boys led three times against Hull but were pegged back on each occasion. The 3-3 draw was enough to move Ipswich level on points with Leeds, behind them on goal difference.

But the bookmakers now have Ipswich at 4/11 in the Championship top-two finish betting odds as they have a game in hand over Leeds, which they will play at Coventry City on Tuesday.

That game will not be straightforward for Ipswich but they host Huddersfield Town, who are all-but relegated, on the last day of the Championship season, so their fate is in their hands.

Ipswich have drawn each of their past three league games with Kieran McKenna's side struggling to close out results at the business end of the campaign. Another draw against Coventry would leave them knowing victory against Huddersfield would guarantee promotion and the Sky Blues now have nothing to play for as a place in the top six is beyond their grasp.

Leeds, meanwhile, have been pushed out to as big as 3/1 in the Championship top-two finish betting odds, with the Whites now likely to be competing in the play-offs next month instead.

Daniel Farke's men were thumped at QPR in a shock result that ensured the West London side will be in the Championship next season. Ilias Chair and Lucas Andersen struck in the first half and Lyndon Dykes and Sam Field were on target after the break for the in-form Hoops.

The Tigers, who must win at Plymouth Argyle and hope West Brom lose at home to Preston, are 8/1. Norwich, who sit three points clear of Hull, sit fifth and are 1/200 for a top-six finish after Saturday's 2-2 draw with Swansea City.
