Humphries boasts a running average of 103.25 over his six games played in the Premier League, and if he maintains that level, his luck has to change. MVG will always remain competitive, though, and I can see this being another tight contest.

However, this will present a very different challenge, as he prepares to perform in front of a passionate and partisan crowd in Cardiff. It will be fascinating to see how the young Dutchman handles that atmosphere.

Jonny Clayton has enjoyed an impressive return to the Premier League and has spoken openly about how long he has waited to play in Cardiff again. He showed his quality last week by defeating Luke Littler in his opener, before running into the in-form Stephen Bunting, who whitewashed him later in the night.

Clayton was widely tipped to struggle in this year’s competition, but so far, he has done a fine job of proving those doubts wrong. The Ferret is one of the most solid performers on the circuit, and he will need to be at his best to overcome Van Veen. With the backing of the Cardiff crowd, though, that extra lift could be enough to carry him over the line.

Gerwyn Price claimed victory in Antwerp in week two and won PC06 last week. The Welshman has certainly turned a corner in the last 18 months or so, and he's looking like his old self again. Stephen Bunting stopped a run of three consecutive defeats by winning week four in Belfast. Wins against Luke Humphries, Jonny Clayton, and Gian van Veen will certainly boost his confidence, and he'll need to be confident tonight to get past Price.

Gerwyn Price is the typical sportsman who thrives on nights like this. Playing in front of his home crowd and wanting to entertain will almost certainly get him over the line in this one.

Luke Littler sits 7th in the league table after a poor start to his campaign. The Nuke has some good memories from his last appearance in Cardiff, hitting a 9-darter in 2025. The teenager needs to hurry up and find his form in the Premier League; otherwise, he could be in danger of being cut adrift from the top 4.

Josh Rock is still winless in his debut Premier League campaign after four consecutive 6-2 defeats. He gained a bit of confidence after landing a historic 9-darter in Belfast last week, but the more he chases that elusive first victory, the harder it will become.

I can't see Little continuing to play as he has on the Premier League stage, and it's only a matter of time before he kicks into gear. Tonight looks like the perfect opportunity to do so, and I think he will lay down a marker in his opener in Cardiff.
