Dirk van Duijvenbode lost just two legs en route to beating six-time World Grand Prix champion Michael van Gerwen in round one.
After reaching the final on debut in 2020, that's the first time the big Dutchman has managed a win here, and he did it in style to deny the world number three.
Daryl Gurney defeated an out-of-sorts Ross Smith to progress to round two, and can reach his first Grand Prix quarter-final since 2018 with a win here. Super Chin averaged 84.86 and relinquished just a single leg on his way to a straight-sets victory.
The Dutchman is clearly the heavier scorer in this contest, but Gurney has found a knack for grinding out wins in this event, and I think he'll do the same again this evening.

Jonny Clayton came safely through a potential banana skin against Andrew Gilding in straight sets in round one. The Ferret was his usual solid self, averaging 88.37 in what was a fairly comfortable evening for the Welshman.
Luke Woodhouse thought he had blown it after missing six darts to get away in a last-leg decider, but back-to-back maximums saved his bacon and denied Damon Heta a first win in this competition.
Woody hit five maximums in round one, and when his first dart sits perfectly, he seems to follow more than not, so I'm surprised to see his price so inflated to outscore the Welshman here.
This will be a competitive match as both players are in good form. They play at a similar pace, and I expect this to perhaps go the distance, but certainly over 3.5 sets.

Luke Littler produced a magnificent performance to deny Gian van Veen, who set a new record average in the World Grand Prix of 106.47.
That record stood for 24 years, which shows just how well the Dutchman played and still couldn't defeat the teenager, who averaged 105.58 himself.
Mike De Decker dug deep to get off to a winning start in his title defence, beating Peter Wright 2-1 with a 91.41 average.
He certainly could have done without this draw, though, as Littler looks in a dominant mood and can breeze past the Belgian if he doesn't get off to a good start.

Both players came through final set deciders and tough battles against Ryan Searle and Ryan Joyce, respectively. Gerwyn Price was probably the most impressive, though, battling back from a set down, and averaging 99.40 in set 3 to get over the line.
Josh Rock won his first game on his third attempt at the World Grand Prix against Joyce, coming from a set down himself to lift himself to number 8 in the World rankings.
This is a tough match to call, with both players in great form. Josh Rock is probably in the better form of the two, but Gerywn Price has a fantastic record at this event, reaching three finals in the last 5 years, including lifting the trophy in 2020.
Experience usually shines through, and I think the Welshman will scrape past Rock in a high-quality contest.
