Kevin Doets has made an impact on both his previous two appearances at Ally Pally, reaching the fourth round last year. He has reached a quarter-final or better on eight occasions this year in Players Championship events, and if he can replicate that form on the big stage, he can be a real threat.
Matthew Dennant has qualified for his World Championship debut via the Pro Tour order of merit. He's had some good results on tour and will no doubt be feeling confident coming into this.
From personal experience of playing against Dennant a lot, he's a big power scorer when he's on song. Doets is also a big maximum hitter, and if Dennant remains competitive and can keep in this match, I can see plenty of maximums being hit.

Ryan Meikle has had a difficult year on the pro tour and has reached the fourth round or better on only two occasions in all competitions. He managed to scrape into the Players Championship Finals with a late call-up, but averaged just 74.25 in a 6-1 defeat to Ross Smith.
Jesus Salate is set to make history as the first player from Argentina to play at the PDC World Darts Championship. He booked his place by finishing top of the CDLC Tour rankings, just beating Rashad Sweeting to the number-one spot. He averaged 88.41 in the 6th and final ranking event, beating Norman Madhoo 6-0.
Meikle isn't in the best of form at the moment, and although we don't know too much about Jesus Salate, I can see this turning into a scrappy and tight affair.

Daryl Gurney looked as though he'd turned a corner with his form last season, but this year has been slightly disappointing on the floor. However, his TV form remains solid with two quarter-final's in the European Championship, and Players Championship Finals. Gurney also got his hands on the World Cup for the first time, alongside his good friend Josh Rock.
Beau Greaves needs no introduction, and she's a completely different player than the one who lost 3-0 on debut against Willie O'Connor in 2023. She's had another magnificent year, capturing the last 13 Women's Series titles, including an incredible 86 matches in succession.
Greaves also made it to the World Youth Championship final, beating Luke Littler on route, before losing 6-3 to European Champion Gian van Veen.
I am slightly surprised that Beau is favourite, because of Gurney's big match experience. All the pressure is on the Northern Irishman though, and the way Greaves is playing, she will jump all over any slip ups from Gurney.

Nathan Aspinall comes into this year's tournament as one of the favourites, which shows how well he's done to turn round his form, and career. He's had a fantastic 2025, reaching four quarter-finals or better on TV, including winning three European Tours.
Lourence Ilagan returns to the palace for his 10th PDC World Championship appearance. He's always been exciting to watch, but he's certainly underwhelmed with his performances at Ally Pally, winning just one match in nine previous appearances.
Aspinall is an elite player again, he's looking confident and more importantly his throw is smooth, so should come through this match with ease.

Keane Barry has had a tough season on tour, reaching just one quarter-final, and only qualified for one of 14 European Tour events. The young Irishman is still just 23 years old though, and this will be his 7th consecutive World Championship appearance.
Tim Pusey has had a magnificent season on the Australian Darts Tour, topping the order of merit after three tournament wins and four finals. We've seen him compete on the World Series before, but this year he was much more competitive, losing 6-4 to Chris Dobey with an 88.60 average.
For some reason, Keane Barry struggles to play to his potential on the big stage, and if Pusey takes his form into the Ally Pally, he can cause an upset here.
