Darren Beveridge was fantastic on his World Championship debut, and although Dimitri van den Bergh was out of sorts, the Scot stuck to his task and came through 3-0.
Madars Razma was solid as always during his opening round victory over Jamai van den Herik, winning 3-1 with a 89.07.
The Latvian has reached the third round in both the last 2 years, but the way Beveridge played in his opener suggests that his scoring power will be too much for Razma.

Wessel Nijman looks primed for a deep run at Ally Pally this year, especially after impressively dispatching Karel Sedlacek 3-0 with a 100.91 average. Nijman continues to impress and could potentially face Luke Humphries in the next round, which could be an epic.
Gabriel Clemens continues to fall down the World Rankings, but was impressive in round one, defeating Alex Spellman 3-0. The German Giant averaged 90.93 with a 50% checkout rate. He'll need to finish similarly to that today if he's to get near the impressive Dutchman.
Wessel Nijman looks a class above Clemens nowadays, and after producing six maximums in his opening match, he should do the same today and race to the finish line.

James Wade looked extremely smooth during his first-round victory over Ryusei Azemoto, winning 3-0 with a 94.75 average. The Machine was focused but smiling during and after the match, which is a dangerous sign for his fellow competitors.
Ricky Evans overcame a potential banana skin in the first round, defeating Man Lok Leung 3-0. The charismatic Englishman was entertaining as always, but he'll have to really get his head down if he's to get past the in-form Wade.
This will be a tight match, and it wouldn't surprise me if most sets went the distance. Wade is coming here after one of his best seasons in recent times, and he looks laser-focused. I think he wins, but over four, possibly five sets, which gives him plenty of time to produce maximums.

Gian van Veen showed plenty of class during his opening round victory, denying the return of Cristo Reyes. The Spaniard was always going to be dangerous if he could find some form, but the European Champion was too much, winning 3-1 with a 98.91 average to kick start his World Championship campaign.
Alan Soutar survived an almighty scare to scrape through 3-2 against Teemu Harju in the first round. The Scot missed bundles of doubles to let Harju back in, but eventually got over the line in a tie-break.
Gian van Veen is one of the favourites to lift this title for a reason, and I think he will have far too much for Soutar tonight, and a 3-0 win looks most likely.

Charlie Manby lived up to the hype as he dispatched 26th seed Cameron Menzies in the first round. It was a fantastic and gutsy performance from the youngster, battling to a 3-2 win with a 90.62 average. The 20-year-old will take huge confidence from settling so quickly on the big stage, and if he continues to improve, he will be a massive danger to anybody in this tournament.
Adam Sevada produced an impressive performance on debut as he dumped Matt Campbell out 3-1. The big American averaged 88.29 and hit 2 180s, which was enough to send the Canadian packing.
These two are great examples of why the Modus Super Series works, with both tasting success in recent times, and why both settled so quickly up there. But this is a completely different kettle of fish, and for me, Manby looks like he's a future top 32 player, and his debut will continue with a relatively straightforward victory.
