Tote is one of the oldest bookmakers in the UK, having been founded by Winston Churchill as a way to regulate gambling on horse racing. Given its popularity, one would expect it to have kept up with the times, and it certainly has.
Now, the site can be found online and on various App Stores, while also maintaining a strong presence on racecourses in the UK and Ireland.
A heavily visited bookmaker on course, the viewpoint carries over to its mobile presence, with iOS and Android users both rating the respective apps rather well.
Whilst there are a few negative reviews relating to the casino or sign-up offers, the overwhelming majority have rated Tote five stars. In fact, this is one of the best-rated apps we have seen while reviewing bookmakers.
In the reviews, customers regularly mention that the app is 'great', while also referencing the ease of following racecards, placing bets, and the value that is provided at their fingertips.

If you are looking to sign up on Tote through the app, you can follow our step-by-step guide on how to do so below:
Once you have downloaded the Tote app, you will find the 'Join' option in the top-right corner of the screen.
In the first step of the registration, you will be asked to provide an email address and password for your account.
In the second step, you will be asked to provide your personal details such as full name, date of birth and home address. It is important to make sure that these details are correct, as they will be used for the verification.
Finally, confirm your marketing preferences and you will be good to go!
Despite being one of the most recognised betting brands in the UK, there can certainly be a few complaints about the payment section of the app. Why? The lack of payment methods.
As of 2026, Tote only accepts payments from three methods: Visa and Mastercard debit cards as well as Apple Pay. So, more options need to be added in the future, hopefully including an E-Wallet.
As much as it may be flawed, the £5 minimum amount across all methods cannot be critiqued. Below, we have collected everything you need to know about deposits and withdrawals on the Tote app:
| Payment Method | Min Deposit | Max Deposit | Deposit Fee | Processing Time | Triggers Bonus |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Visa | £5 | Not specified | No fee | Instant | |
Mastercard | £5 | Not specified | No fee | Instant | |
| Apple Pay | £5 | Not specified | No fee | Instant |
| Payment Method | Min Withdrawal | Max Withdrawal | Withdrawal Fee | Withdrawal Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Visa | £10 | Not specified | No fee | 15 minutes in our test |
Mastercard | £10 | Not specified | No fee | 1-3 business days |
| Apple Pay | £5 | Not specified | No fee | 1-3 business days |
If you are new to the Tote app and would like some assistance with depositing funds, you can follow our step-by-step guide below:
Once you have logged into your account, simply tap the icon in the top right of the screen to enter the profile area of the app, then tap the 'Deposit' option.
Unfortunately, as there are only two deposit methods, there is no selection screen, but rather a selection at the bottom of your screen. So, once you have inserted an amount to deposit, tap your selection.
The final step is to enter your payment method details. In our case, we had to fill in the card number, expiry date, and security number before depositing.
If you are unsure about how to withdraw funds on the Tote app, you can follow our step-by-step guide below for some assistance:
To enter the withdrawal cashier, select the ‘Profile’ option in the top right corner of the screen, then scroll down the page and select the ‘Withdraw’ option.
It may seem obvious, but to withdraw, you will need to have made a deposit already with a debit card, and the below message will show if you have not.

Now, you will need to enter your withdrawal amount. In this case, we chose the minimum of £10. Finally, tap the ‘Withdraw’ button. In our test, it took less than 15 minutes for the money to arrive, which was great.

As one would expect with its roots, the Tote app focuses immediately on sport and, more specifically, horse racing. In fact, to navigate back to the homepage, you must go to the 'Racing' tab.
Of course, this is to be expected, with it traditionally being a racing bookmaker. Consequently, this is what the vast majority of its users will be interested in. However, it certainly is not the only thing offered.
As of January 2026, there are 26 different sports listed in the 'All Sports' category. So, you can find all of the most popular options in the UK, including football, darts and greyhound racing.
The football markets are easy to navigate, which is immediately a positive. Rather than being dropped into a football area, so to speak, you can actually pick a league first and work from there.
As a result, you can find exactly what you want to bet on very quickly, without the need to navigate through numerous pages.
There are more than 350 markets available in a standard Premier League game, which is pretty competitive and must be applauded.
When it comes to horse racing, though, this is where the site really excels. UK, Irish and international fixtures are available, as is streaming for most fixtures, which is a huge positive.
The markets are exceptional, too. Win markets are offered, as well as slightly rare place markets. Additionally, the Tote Placepot is an added incentive to try the app, with prizes worth thousands available.
Whilst both a casino area and a live casino area are offered, they are not the focus for Tote, understandably. Regardless of that, these are not any worse than the sports section.
The filters available are superb, meaning you can easily find games from different providers or game types. Additionally, the search bar helps find exactly what you want if you have a slot in mind.
Loading into games is instant too, so you will not be left frustrated with the time it takes to play casino at Tote, which is a major strength of the app in general (i.e. speed).
Live casino games like 'Crazy Time', 'Marble Race', and Monopoly are all available, which is a must given their popularity in the UK. However, there are also plenty of lobbies for classic options like poker, blackjack and roulette.
Unfortunately, the customer support area is a little bit hard to find on the app. It is only accessible via the landing page, as opposed to the always shown 'Profile' menu.
So, tap the three lines in the top left corner of the home page, and then you will be shown several options. Instant help is available via the FAQ or Live Chat; however, entering the 'Contact Us' page shows a mobile number too.
If you are fine waiting a little, you can email Tote or send the bookmaker a letter, though it is probably easier to seek help in other ways.
The quality of the support is among the best that we have seen; we just wish that it were slightly more accessible, and it very easily could be. Maybe this is us being overly pedantic, though.

When you have a brand like Tote, you need to carry on the service online perfectly, and the bookmaker has done so with its app. Whilst it may be more basic than others on the market, it is certainly not bad.
In fact, it has everything that a punter may want at their fingertips across a range of sports. So, you can easily bet on horse racing or create a Premier League accumulator in a few taps.
Navigation is smooth, and you can quickly get across different sections of the app, which is always something that should be prioritised in an app.
All in all, we don't have anything bad to say here. The reviews paint a good picture, and I can only add to them here. A splendid example of an app done right.
