Most punters will be familiar with Planet Sports through its news websites, such as Football365 and TEAMtalk, but a few years ago the company entered the gambling scene. Partnering up with Playbook Gaming Limited, which is also the provider of several betting sites, Planet Sport Bet was launched in 2021.
Playbook Gaming is licensed and regulated by the UKGC, under account number 50122, meaning it is completely safe for punters to sign up on Planet Sport Bet. That being said, like many other new bookies in the UK, it has failed to leave its mark so far and there is no longer any welcome offer for punters to claim.
Planet Sport Bet is very obviously an experiment, with Planet Sport attempting to branch out from the news industry. I'm not so sure that it was the right move, though, as the betting industry is very saturated as well. The absence of a welcome offer, which was previously available, also suggests that the site is not raking in money.
This is obviously one of the cons as well, and the lack of popular payment methods should also be mentioned. In terms of pros, the sportsbook is comprehensive - thanks to Playbook Gaming - and there are at least a few promotions. It is still one of the weakest sites in the Playbook Gaming roster, though.
Below, we review each of Planet Sport Bet's sister sites and as they are fundamentally the same product, we focus on the differences between them.
NRG BET is one of the newest betting sites in the UK, having launched at the start of 2024, and it uses the Playbook Gaming platform. It's technically operated by Sharedbet Limited, and not Playbook Gaming like the other sites here, but these two companies are from the same people. In short, NRG BET is definitely a sister site of Planet Sport Bet.
The sportsbook is exactly the same as the others (what a shocker!), but the best welcome offer of the bunch can be found here, at least in our opinion. Punters can claim a £10 free bet by depositing and staking at least £20 with minimum odds of evens. In other words, this is slightly better than Rhino Bet which gives the same free bet for staking £25.
BresBet was launched in 2021 and is owned by the horse racing enthusiast Nic Brereton. Having said that, the site is operated by Playbook Gaming and thus sports the same design as its sister sites. The colour scheme is a bit more colourful but that is the only difference as far as the sportsbook goes.
The bookmaker suffers from a poor welcome offer - 50% back as a free bet up to £25 - and a lack of customer support. The latter can be said for all of the Playbook Gaming sites, to be honest, but some are better than others. When you put it next to Planet Sport Bet, there is not much to separate the two.
Dragonbet is owned by Lovell Brothers Limited and during its infancy, it was actually not operated by Playbook Gaming. After the previous provider was taken over by another company in 2023, though, Dragonbet opted to switch sportsbook providers and it has been under the Playbook umbrella since.
The bookmaker focuses heavily on the Welsh market and while this has attracted some punters, the site is not that impressive. The sportsbook lacks several key features and, above all, there is no betting offer for new customers to claim. Again, a very similar situation to Planet Sport Bet, i.e. not great.
