As of 3 September 2025, according to the odds, the favourite to win La Liga is Barcelona, best priced at 10/11 with BetVictor.
The odds mean that the probability for Barcelona to win is 52.38%.
It will be between two teams for the La Liga title this year, which has been the case for as long as anyone can remember. Of course, those teams are Barcelona and Real Madrid, and picking between them is slightly tough.
We'll start with Real Madrid, who are the favourites with most bookmakers for the La Liga title this season. Los Blancos have made almost £150 million in investments since the start of the summer, mainly in the defensive line.
Past that, there has not really been a need to invest. The attack is phenomenal, as is the midfield. However, there have been issues in putting everything together, which makes it difficult to really trust them.
In addition to this, Xabi Alonso is taking a huge step up in terms of his job. So, there can be questions about his ability to coach a club the size of Real, with the greatest respect given to Bayer Leverkusen.
So, I am picking Barcelona to win the La Liga title this season. It is slightly ludicrous to lead with the fact that there is more stability in Catalonia, but on the pitch, there is. There is slightly more cohesion, too, which only helps.
Hansi Flick's project is only rising, and whilst there is the constant marring of the financial problems for the Blaugrana, there is a separation thanks to Flick's work so far.
With a young team, the potential is there to continue to progress together, and I think that they are questionable as the second favourites. That, in the sense that they should probably be the leaders as the reigning champions.
Questions can be asked of both of the top two. However, I feel like the Catalan Giants are the slightly better bet here.
Of course, lifting the La Liga trophy comes with a lot of prestige and bragging rights. In addition to this, there is also a huge financial incentive for finishing in first place rather than, say, second as roughly €7m separates the two positions in terms of prize money. The winner is also seeded in the first pot for the Champions League league stage draw.
Barcelona came out on top in the 2024/25 edition, rather convincingly as well one must add, even if just four points separated the Catalan side and Real Madrid in the end. The Bernabeu side are heading for a managerial change, though, so perhaps the tables could turn in the upcoming season.
