Last Season's Champions Overcome Tough Bournemouth Challenge

Liverpool kicked off their campaign at home, where they hosted a new-look Bournemouth after losing valued squad members over the summer. This included Milos Kerkez, now sporting the red of Liverpool, as well as Dean Huijsen and Ilya Zabarnyi. Liverpool's 4-2 win was far from routine.

New forward Hugo Ekitike looked dangerous, scoring and assisting before Antoine Semenyo netted two impressive goals, including a beautiful solo effort, to see the two draw level. It took some firepower off the Liverpool bench in Federico Chiesa and a clincher courtesy of Mohamed Salah to seal an opening-day win for the champions.

Probably the favourites for most bookies at around 2/1, Liverpool look set to mount another challenge for the title.

Arsenal Scrape Past Manchester United at Old Trafford

Arsenal fell short in the race for the crown towards the end of last season, but after some important signings, they look ready to mount a proper challenge this season. New recruits Martin Zubimendi and Victor Gyokeres both featured in their 1-0 win over a new-look Manchester United.

Riccardo Calafiori scored the game's only goal, capitalising on a typically inventive Arsenal set piece helped by some suspect goalkeeping from Altay Bayindir. Victory in their opening game sees the Gunners placed at 2/1 at these early stages to win the title.

Manchester City Return Reinvigorated

Pep Guardiola will be the first to admit his side's struggles last season, but it seems this season his team could be back on track. The catalyst for much of City's poor spell last season was an injury to Ballon D'or winner Rodri, and despite missing him on Saturday, they still rode out comfortable winners.

Special mentions go to new signing Tijjani Reijnders, who played with real elegance as he scored himself before assisting Erling Haaland's second. Fellow newbie Rayan Cherki secured a 4-0 win off the bench, which sees them now priced at 14/5 to lift the title.

Newcastle and Aston Villa Settle for a Point Each

Both Newcastle and Aston Villa will harbor hopes of making the Champions League spots this season, as they faced off at St. James Park on Saturday in the early kick-off.

Newcastle looked the better of the two, but neither were able to break the deadlock, even after Ezri Konsa was sent off for stopping Anthony Gordon running through on goal. Newcastle are priced at 3/1 to make the top four following their stalemate, and Aston Villa at 6/1.

Spurs Ease Past Newly Promoted Burnley

Thomas Frank will be pleased with his start to life as Spurs coach despite his loss in the Super Cup last week. They hosted Burnley, who look a shoe-in for relegation after some subpar summer recruitment.

Brazilian livewire Richarlison has seemingly started to defrost with the World Cup approaching next summer. His two goals, including a stunning bicycle kick, saw Spurs on their way to a routine win. They’re 17/4 to make the top four at this stage.

Burnley Well Beaten on Top Flight Return

As discussed, Burnley barely laid a glove on Spurs in their 3-0 defeat on the opening weekend. After losing key figures from their defence, which had been the basis of so much success in the Championship, it looks like they’ll struggle at both ends this season. As such, they’re 2/7 to make the drop.

Sunderland off to Flying Start

Sunderland put three goals past West Ham in a game that many had pitched as one between two potential relegation candidates. The Black Cats seem to have recruited expertly, but it was last season's heroes who proved the difference.

Goals from Eliezer Mayenda, Dan Ballard, and Wilson Isidor secured a first win to get them up and running as they look to get back into the top flight for good. They’re 8/11 to be relegated come the end of the season.

On the other hand, West Ham fans probably aren’t filled with hope for this season. It feels as though Jarrod Bowen is their only hope, and if he gets injured, they could be in a world of trouble (if they aren't already). They’re 3/1 to make the drop.

Leeds March on With Three Points

Leeds beat Everton at Elland Road in controversial fashion in the Monday night kick-off. Toffees' skipper James Tarkowski was penalised for having arms as he leaned in to block a Leeds shot on goal.

Summer signing Lukas Nmecha coolly dispatched the resulting penalty on his debut, winning his side an important three points. As such, Leeds come in at 7/4 to be relegated back to the Championship come the end of the season.

Potter Struggles To Work His Magic

West Ham looked poor last season under Graham Potter, and not much has changed. It may be too early to judge, but they still seem overly reliant on the brilliance of their captain to keep them afloat.

It feels as though the opposition managers seem to have Graham Potter figured out, and as a leader, he seems far from inspiring. If West Ham struggle early on, he could be the first manager to go and as such is 9/4 to be the next manager to leave post.

Keith Andrews: Out Of His Depth?

Brentford took a huge gamble when they put their trust in Keith Andrews to take over Thomas Frank’s position as Head Coach of Brentford. Frank, of course, had worked wonders as the Bees' coach over several years.

Brentford’s squad is also depleted, after already having lost Bryan Mbuemo and likely Yoanne Wissa too; they’re probably not going to be quite as good as they have been in previous seasons. He’s 11/4 to be the next Premier League manager to leave post.

Haaland Back to Scoring Ways

Erling Haaland has emerged as an early favourite to win the Premier League Golden Boot this year, placed at 10/11. He scored two against Wolves and possibly should’ve had more, and he looks set to receive some brilliant service from new signings Reijnders and Cherki.

Sole Goal for Salah

There was plenty of talk over the summer about how Liverpool’s new signings might alleviate some of the pressure in terms of output away from Mo Salah.

Well, he scored just one of Liverpool’s four, with new signing Hugo Ekitike netting on his Premier League debut, and a potential move for Alexander Isak could still be on the cards. Salah is 7/1 to finish the season as top scorer.

Arsenal’s New Talisman

Whilst Viktor Gyokeres didn’t score against Manchester United, punters are backing him to emulate his impressive goalscoring form from his time as a Sporting player. He is 10/1 to win the Premier League Golden Boot.
