The 2025 BetMGM Premier League Darts moves onto night 4 and the usual surroundings of Exeter at this time of the year as we gear up for the UK Open in Minehead at the weekend. It's never easy for the players in Exeter as they all have one eye on Minehead as they all join the action on Friday evening, so having a good night here may well be imperative to a good UK Open campaign.
Gerwyn Price has moved up to 2nd in the table after a wonderful victory in Dublin last week. Wins against Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, and Nathan Aspinall capped off a fantastic evening for the Welshman. 'The Iceman's' return to form over the last few months has certainly caught the eye and that was his first weekly win since night 11 in 2023.
Luke Humphries remains at the summit of the table after an excellent start, and despite having the highest running average of the tournament so far, Luke Littler drops to fourth in the table with only Stephen Bunting looking for his maiden victory in this campaign. Nathan Aspinall and Rob Cross had a quarter-final to forget in Dublin with missed doubles galore.
Despite this though, Aspinall battled through and made his way to his first Final of the 2025 season, beating MVG in the semi-final. That was MVG's third straight semi-final exit and the Dutchman will know he needs to start winning to stay in touch with the leading pack.
Luke Littler and Chris Dobey lost again in the Quarter-Final in Dublin, that's now two defeats in three weeks for the pair at that stage. I doubt they'll both be overly concerned though as their standard certainly hasn't dropped much, even with some disappointing results.
We had a solid week, with four out of five winning betting tips.
Over the last two weeks, Rob Cross has surrendered a 5-1 lead to Luke Littler and lost a very poor encounter with Nathan Aspinall in Dublin, missing doubles galore, ending the match with a 13.64% checkout rate (3/22).
It's strange because 'Voltage' looked as though he was finding his form again after winning the Dutch Darts Masters and Players Championship 1 earlier in the season. Just the solitary victory in this year's Premier League campaign against Stephen Bunting on night 1 will certainly start to ring alarm bells.
Michael van Gerwen has had a stop-start beginning to his Premier League campaign and has now fallen at the semi-final stage in each of the first 3 weeks. He has played very well at times, especially at the quarter-final stage and I expect him to take advantage against the struggling Cross.
The Dutchman will know he needs a weekly win to get the monkey off his back, after watching his rivals Littler and Humphries already picking up maximum points early in the season.
MVG looked very flat last week and his performances reflected that, averaging just 93.21 in his semi-final defeat to Nathan Aspinall. I think that changes this week though, especially with the UK Open on the horizon. He'll want to make a statement in Exeter and with Cross's doubling woes lately, I think the match double is a great price here.

Gerwyn Price will be over the moon to finally get a TV win under his belt, especially after how well he has played over the past few months. The Welshman was magnificent in Dublin, defeating Littler, Humphries, and Aspinall to win Night 3. Price produced a 102.64 average and five 180s in his victory over Littler, making it five wins in the last six matches against the teenager.
Now up to second in the league table, I can see him carrying on this form into Exeter and the UK Open. Wins against the two best players in the world in Dublin has highlighted how much he's improved his attitude and commitment to the Sport.
Luke Humphries hasn't done a lot wrong at all so far this season but for me, he still seems a little off the form we have come to expect from him. Dublin was the first night 'Cool Hand' failed to make the final so I may be a little harsh in my assessment but in his last two losses in the Premier League against Littler and Price, he's failed to average over 94.
The Englishman still remains clear at the top of the Premier League table, but he faces a tough test tonight against Price who's breathing down his neck in 2nd.
I've said in previous posts that momentum in Darts is such a major factor in results and I think that will be the case again in this contest. I don't think Price will have it all his own way but I do think he looks as if he has more hunger than Humphries right now.
You can forgive Luke for that, he's achieved so much over the last 3 years but to me, he looks a little fatigued and I can see Price taking advantage of that in a close match.
