After another interesting weekend of League Two action, we’re back for another Odds Watch piece to assess the changes at the top and bottom of the league, and what betting opportunities may now be there as a result.
Let's dive in.
Bromley, admittedly, have fluctuated in recent weeks, which has certainly harmed their chances of the title. Yet, they still remain in a solid place at the top of the League Two table. Indeed, they are two points clear of second and also nine points clear of fourth.
So, it seems pretty fair to suggest that they are going up this year. However, their win at the weekend was only the second in their last five games, and it was not exactly a standout win against a pretty poor Bristol Rovers side.
Of course, they still sit at the top, so there is not too much to worry about. Yet, their safety there has certainly been diminished, and the best football bookmakers are pretty happy to take them on, with them now the second favourites to win the league at 15/8 at Paddy Power.
MK Dons, as many expected before the start of the season, are now starting to go into the motions of a proper title challenger. They had a rough start to the season, but they are now performing as many expected them to.
Indeed, they are now only two points off the top spot, and their 2-1 win against Swindon at the weekend only strengthened their title claims. Bookmakers have them at 6/4 to win the title and it is understandable why, considering their recent form.
They have won six of their last ten games, including four in their last five. However, you may be able to suggest that they have largely only beaten teams in the lower half of the table. As a result, when they face the teams around them over a longer stretch of games, there may be a few issues.
You cannot write off Cambridge United, though. On the face of it, they have a five-point gap to overturn, but they have a game in hand, and this could quickly change the landscape of the title race.
Their recent form has been pretty solid, with five wins in their last 10. However, they keep drawing games, and this has certainly put the brakes on their title challenge. Nevertheless, they remain firmly in the conversation, and if they replace their game in hand with three points, things get very tasty.
The 10/3 price available with Bet365 could certainly be quite nice, indeed.
Below, we have collected the top teams - aside from the big favourites - and their respective odds to finish top 7 in the 2025/26 League Two season.
Like Cambridge, fourth-place Notts County also have a game in hand, but they sit nine points off the league leaders, so it feels like their ceiling may be one of the automatic spots. They are certainly still in the promotion picture.
With two wins and three losses in their last five, they have dropped the ball a little, and with losses coming against Grimsby and Chesterfield, you’d maybe fear for them if they did fall into the play-offs at the end of the season.
Salford, on the other hand, are flying in fifth, winning four of their last five games. An incredibly impressive run, the Ammies could also try to sneak into the top three places for promotion. With their recent form, you’d be daft to suggest that they have no chance.
Their final run of fixtures is admittedly tough, with clashes against all of the current top four remaining. However, in their current form, you couldn’t write them off completely.
Swindon take the last real spot of safety in the top seven, sitting on 63 points. Yet, that may not be the case for much longer. Indeed, they have not won since the middle of February, and others are quickly picking up points around them.
Chesterfield, for example, now sit in seventh and whilst they have been pretty inconsistent, they may be hitting form at the right time. They have won two of their last three games, and whilst they are not safe in the play-offs (at all), they could soon strengthen.
Sitting outside the top seven, Grimsby Town have a real chance of a play-off spot, given they sit on 56 points with a game in hand. If they were to win that, they would be level on points with the Spireites and could even push themselves into the play-offs if they win by a goal or more.
Crewe and Walsall both sit on 56 points, too, but they do not have the luxury of a game in hand. Neither are out of the promotion race, but their chances are certainly lower than the Mariners’.
A bit of an outsider shout could be Oldham, too. They have won four of their last five games, including one against Grimsby at the weekend, and have two games in hand on seventh place.
Whilst they do need to overturn a seven-point gap, it would not be impossible at their current pace, and it is one to keep an eye on. At present, Bet365 have them at 7/1 for a play-off spot at the end of the season, it may not be a bad bet…
Below, we have collected the top three teams and their respective odds to be relegated in the 2025/26 League Two season.
Things at the bottom of the division remain as interesting as they have ever been, even if not much has changed.
Harrogate remain at the bottom of the table, but five points in their last five games have meant that they are now only a few points away from safety. Whilst they have lost their past two, they are three points away from Crawley in 22nd.
They are far from safe, but it appears that some may have jumped the gun. Of course, they need to pick up points quickly, but with how troubling the quality at the bottom really is, it may not be too great a feat.
Barrow, then, have taken the second relegation spot recently, and they are in huge bother. This weekend’s draw to Accrington was only their fifth point of 2026, a pretty concerning stat considering they have played 14 times.
They do have a game in hand, which could alter things slightly. However, you’d have very little faith considering their recent run…
Crawley are also in considerable danger, considering they are teetering on the edge of relegation, sitting on only 30 points. At present, they are only a point clear of the drop, but they are picking up points, even if it is at a painful rate.
They have had four draws from their last five games, so they are not completely doomed, far from it. However, if they don’t convert to a few wins soon, they will be staring at a pretty bleak reality.
Two wins in three games for Newport County may be enough to remove them from the relegation conversation for a little while. A strong performance against a play-off-challenging Barnet side resulted in three points, and it has taken them outside of the bottom three.
They are still 6/5 to go down with William Hill, so the bookmakers are not completely confident in their chances.
