We are starting to see things a little more clearly in League One after Matchday 3. There are still some anomalies, of course, but there is a general consensus that the league is not too far wrong.
Another weekend has gone by in the League One calendar, and there are already a few teams standing out at both ends! As it's the third week, we are still basing outcomes on predictions of certain teams. However, it is certainly more focused on the present.
So, without further ado, let's dive into it!
It's best to start at the top of the league, rather than the odds here. No, it is not one of the predicted favourites topping the league right now. Instead, it is Stevenage, who were one of the mainstays in the mid-table predictions for the division.
Instead, they have picked up nine points from as many available, being the only team to boast such a record. A win against Northampton is not spectacular, with the greatest respect. However, they are looking strong. As a result, their odds are quickly shortening; they are 33/1 to win the division at present, and 11/4 for a Top Six spot.
Cardiff then follow in second, after returning to winning ways against Rotherham. The Millers have not been great since their opening day victory, and the 3-0 defeat to the Bluebirds is not a great result for them.
However, it is a sign that Brian Barry-Murphy's methods are working, and fans of the Welsh outfit will only be pleased with how things are going currently.
For Barnsley and Stockport, it was draws all round. The Tykes were held by Bolton Wanderers, which is a good result in fairness, especially when considering that Tarn were down to 10 men for most of the second half.
Stockport will also not be too disappointed with their draw away at Leyton Orient, the O's finished last season in the play-offs, and after a difficult opening day result, they have been better. Dave Challinor will not be too disappointed at all.
Huddersfield and Luton, who front the odds for the title race, were both beaten in disappointing circumstances, their fans will feel. The former to 10-man Blackpool, whilst the Hatters were beaten 2-1 at Valley Parade.
Below, we have collected the top teams - aside from the big favourites - and their respective odds to finish top 6 in the 2025/26 League One season.
As we covered so many teams in the title scene, it means this section will be a little thinner. However, that is not a bad thing and nothing against any team involved. It, then, is best to start with the final teams in the play-offs currently.
Bradford, currently, hold the fifth spot in the league after another big win at Valley Parade. After their win against Wycombe Wanderers on the opening day, it showed that there is a difficulty going to the stadium, and Luton have found out as much.
A 2-1 win against another of the stronger teams in the division - maybe even the strongest - is huge. In fact, the Bantams look terrific value currently, and their home form could be a real asset to them this season. Right now, they are 4/6 for a top-half finish with some bookmakers.
Doncaster remained positive as well at the weekend, also holding Wycombe Wanderers at home. The Chairboys have been quite bad against the newly promoted sides, failing to beat either so far.
Whilst Rovers' goal was rather scrappy, that is what counts in the division, and they will not be too displeased at all with how things have gone thus far.
Bolton drew this weekend, of course, against Barnsley, though this is not too much to worry about away from home. In fact, after their win last weekend and other teams stalling a little bit, they will not lose hope.
Below, we have collected the top four teams and their respective odds to be relegated in the 2025/26 League One season.

It is still early, but when things are worrying, things are worrying. This is exactly the situation at the bottom of the division.
Right now, three of the bottom five were predicted to be in and around the play-off picture, with Reading, Plymouth and Wycombe all failing to get themselves off to a good start. Each is worrying in their own right.
Reading were beaten at home, for the second week running, by AFC Wimbledon who are among the favourites for the drop this season. The Dons have won their past two, but that is no excuse for the Royals, who sit bottom of the division.
Above them is Peterborough, who Wigan beat 2-0. Considering how the Tics have started this season, it is not a terrible result, but the fact that they are still not off the ground does not offer much to be hopeful about.
Then, Plymouth round off that pack of teams without a point yet. The Pilgrims were beaten 3-2 with 10 men by Lincoln, who have started alright-ly this season. However, when coming down from the Championship, there was more expected from the Green Army.
Above them is Northampton, whose point last week has earned them a place outside of the bottom three. Losing 2-0 against the league leaders is not bad; however, there already seems to be a gap between themselves and others in the division.
Port Vale, another team expected to be in the bottom picture at the end of the season, drew again this weekend, though a 0-0 against Burton Albion with 10 men away from home is not terrible. It does not inspire either, though, so they are ones to be wary of.
