Who Will Win the La Liga Title?

It will be between two teams for the La Liga title this year, which has been the case for as long as anyone can remember. Of course, those teams are Barcelona and Real Madrid, and picking between them is slightly tough.

We'll start with Real Madrid, who are the favourites with most bookmakers for the La Liga title this season. Los Blancos have made almost £150 million in investments since the start of the summer, mainly in the defensive line.

Past that, there has not really been a need to invest. The attack is phenomenal, as is the midfield. However, there have been issues in putting everything together, which makes it difficult to really trust them.

In addition to this, Xabi Alonso is taking a huge step up in terms of his job. So, there can be questions about his ability to coach a club the size of Real, with the greatest respect given to Bayer Leverkusen.

So, I am picking Barcelona to win the La Liga title this season. It is slightly ludicrous to lead with the fact that there is more stability in Catalonia, but on the pitch, there is. There is slightly more cohesion, too, which only helps.

Hansi Flick's project is only rising, and whilst there is the constant marring of the financial problems for the Blaugrana, there is a separation thanks to Flick's work so far.

With a young team, the potential is there to continue to progress together, and I think that they are questionable as the second favourites. That, in the sense that they should probably be the leaders as the reigning champions.

Questions can be asked of both of the top two. However, I feel like the Catalan Giants are the slightly better bet here.

Who Will Get Top 4 in La Liga?

Atletico Madrid could well be in the title picture, but it is more likely that they will be in a Top Four position. It is difficult to really discuss much about them for the season ahead. They are a gap above the rest, but they are below the level of the top dogs.

This summer, Atletico have spent almost an extra £100 million than they have received in transfer fees. So, perhaps the gap to the top two could yet decrease. However, with no E/W markets offering three places, it makes more sense to put them in a Top Four section.

The value isn't really there at 1/5, nor is it there for them to finish behind Real Madrid and Barcelona. However, for the 'last' place - or what I believe to be the last spot in the Top Four - there is quite a bit of value for us to dig our teeth into.

There are probably three or four teams that could make the last spot, but I think that it will be between two teams. Villarreal or Athletic Club are my choices. Let's get into it.

Villarreal had a phenomenal season last year, and this was largely due to Ayoze Perez's goals and the work of Thierno Barry. This summer, the Frenchman has left and whilst the frontline has seen some recruitment, I am unsure if they will perform to the same level.

Then, we have Bilbao, who are going to be my pick for the Top Four place. Keeping Nico Williams is monumental, whilst other key players have remained at the club. At present, the bookies slightly favour them over Villarreal.

However, you can still get almost 2/1 for the Basque club.

Who Will Be Relegated From La Liga?

With the top end of the table looked at, now we need to look at the bottom side of the division, and there are some interesting teams in the relegation picture, in my eyes.

Real Oviedo, having just come up from the second tier, are one of the favourites for relegation this season, and it is understandable why this is the case; after back-to-back attempts to leave the second tier, finally made it up for the first time since 2001.

Despite only being a few points off an automatic place, there are immediate doubts about their ability to take to the top flight this season. With a few million invested, they have certainly tried to make a step towards safety. However, the success of it remains to be seen.

Espanyol, then, stands out as another candidate for the drop. Joan Garcia's exit to fellow Catalan side Barcelona is one of the bigger moves from the division this summer. However, they have not really reinvested the exit money.

Instead, less than £5 million has been put into the squad, which does not inspire much hope for their safety. Last season, they flirted with the relegation picture, and it would not be a surprise if they did again this year.

Finally, I am torn between Elche and Levante. Both were promoted from the second tier last season, but I feel like Levante may just not have enough to stay up. Investment has not been up to the standard to stay up, and I have my doubts about their ability.

Who Will Be the La Liga Top Scorer?

It is difficult to challenge Kylian Mbappe for the La Liga Top Scorer award this season, really. In his debut season, the Frenchman scored 31 goals in the Spanish top flight, which is ridiculous. So, I cannot see that slowing down really.

Barcelona's attack may become a little more even, so Robert Lewandowski's tally may drop from the exceptional 27 he scored last season. It remains to be seen, though. At 4/5, Mbappe is not the biggest point of value, so maybe he can be combined with a Title Winner, offered by William Hill.
