Nobody would make the argument that Jadon Sancho boasts the same ceiling we thought four to five years ago but there is unquestionably a talented player there.
There is a reason Man United shelled out mega bucks to sign him in 2021. Even off the back of his Chelsea loan spell, the Blues would have kept him for his playing ability alone but ultimately pulled the plug on their "obligation" because the player wouldn't accept a drop in his wages.
With those wage demands in mind, and seemingly no place in Ruben Amorim's plans, the question of what comes next for Sancho is a massive one. Let’s find out what the bookies say about Sancho's next club.
The wording of Jadon Sancho's next club odds are caveated by who he plays for come September 3rd. That's why Man United are the bookies favourite.
Sure, Sancho doesn't want to stay at Old Trafford and nor does the club want him there. But transfers are more complicated than that. As we've already seen, Chelsea wanted Sancho but wouldn't meet his wage demands.
With Sancho happy to play hardball over his salary expectations and United keen to move Sancho off the books permanently, any potential deals could easily run out of time to get over the line.
That remains a significant risk even if, as we expect, United relax their stance on loaning Sancho out towards the end of the window.

Dortmund have been the club to have extracted the most out of Sancho over the years with the German club having been the place that first saw his career blossom.
During his first spell with the club, which ran between 2017 and 2021, Sancho scored 50 goals and provided 65 assists. It was that form that saw him secure a £73m move to Man United.
With such a glistening early career in Germany, the club hierarchy and fans have remained fond of the 25-year-old. He enjoyed another positive spell with The Black and Yellow at the back end of the 2023/24 season.
Dortmund aren't huge spenders though and we can't see them going anywhere close to Sancho's current wages. If, however, a loan agreement can be struck then we could see Sancho and Dortmund writing a third chapter together.

Sancho is reluctant to take a pay cut from his reported £300k per week wages. Most clubs in Europe aren't going to meet those demands but one place where he could secure that sort of money is Saudi Arabia.
It's a destination that has been heavily rumoured. For the evolution of the Saudi League, securing a player that is not yet in his peak years would be seen as a coup for them and it would certainly work for United.
Whether Sancho wants such a move remains to be seen. The player will feel he still has something to contribute at a much higher level having provided 15 goal contributions for Chelsea last season; that's even more likely to be the case with a World Cup just 12 months away.
Of course, if the Saudi move doesn't appeal, Sancho always has the option of sitting tight. He only has 12 months to run on his current deal and will be the beneficiary of signing on fees next summer if he moves as a free agent.

The attitude Jadon Sancho reportedly has might be a hurdle Eddie Howe has to overcome if he's to bring Sancho to St James' Park but you can certainly create a pathway for how this move could come about.
Newcastle's style of play is one that would suit Sancho and they are crying out for some additional depth on the wings, particularly the right.
That's another big tick for Sancho as he will be guaranteed to get a reasonable amount of game time, which is important if he wants any chance of being on the England plane next summer.
Wages are obviously a stumbling block to Sancho finding another club on a permanent basis, but you feel there could be a loan deal to be struck here. That isn’t likely to unfold quickly though.
