The all-English Europa League final between Man United and Tottenham was billed as a must-win for Ange Postecoglou after he oversaw a turgid Premier League campaign. The former Celtic boss delivered in the final, steering his team to a first trophy in 17 years.
It proved too little, too late, though. With “Big Ange” gone, attention has already turned to the next Tottenham manager odds.
Below are the latest betting odds for Tottenham next permanent manager at the time of this post.
There is a lot about the Tottenham job that will appeal to managers. They’ve got some of the best facilities in the world, a reasonable squad of players that, from a league perspective, surely can’t do any worse than last season and have now had the weight of being trophyless lifted from their shoulders. There is another angle to consider though. That’s the question of what success looks like.
“Spursy”. That has long been the tag from opposition fans when talking about Tottenham. Postecoglou finally got them over the line in a big game, beating United 1-0 in Bilbao but, by his own admission, his squad wasn’t deep enough to compete on multiple fronts. Spurs finished 17th in the Premier League with a lowly 38 points.
What is Daniel Levy’s marker of success? Tottenham don’t invest huge transfer fees, don’t pay top wages and they sell top players. Despite that, it seems Levy craves league position and financial reward over trophies. Given what fans desire more than anything, just how difficult is the Spurs job and, more to the point, who is likely to be the next Tottenham manager?
Let's go over the favourites to replace Ange Postecoglou and the odds for each manager.
Brentford manager Thomas Frank is almost nailed on to be the next Tottenham manager, if you believe the heavily odds-on price available. You can see why the two parties would fit together well too.
Frank has done a superb job in charge of Brentford, steering them to the Premier League and then more than stabilising them amongst the elite of English football. He’s done all of that whilst having to evolve his squad too, with the Ivan Toney challenges perhaps the most notable hurdles he has overcome.
With the Bees reportedly open to selling Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo this summer, it’s perhaps clear that Frank has taken the club as far as he can. His ability to improve players and operate on strict budgets will be a huge tick to the Spurs hierarchy too.

Marco Silva is another coach who has routinely done well in every job he’s had, albeit without having really taken any English club to the level Levy will be hoping Spurs can get to over the next 12 months or so. That said, he's never really had the squad to achieve that either.
From the Spurs fans' perspective, though, having suffered large through negative style of plays prior to Postecoglou, the appointment of Silva would be seen as a reasonable one.
Currently at Fulham, Tottenham will definitely be seen as a step up from his viewpoint and, as such, he would likely be keen to speak to them should they ask the question of his current employers.

Next up in the bookies' odds, even if bet365's price is long, is Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner [Insert joke about Levy being too cheap to look for his new manager outside of London]. In all seriousness though, you can see why Glasner is tipped for a step up from Selhurst Park, given the job he has done there since joining the Eagles back in February last year.
A near 48% win ratio is pretty ridiculous for a club like Palace and, what’s more, he’s delivered silverware too, having defeated Man City in the FA Cup final. That trophy win, though, may well rule him out of a job change this summer.
Ownership challenges with UEFA aside, Palace should be in the Europa League for the first ever time next season courtesy of that cup success. You’d think Glasner would be desperate to lead them into what would be a historic season.
