Onto Finals Day at the first European Tour event of the season in Wieze as 16 players will battle it out for the £30,000 first prize. Mike De Decker returned to form on Saturday as he delighted his home crowd defeating World Number 1 Luke Humphries 6-4 with a 100.45 average. De Decker will be the sole Belgian left in the field after Dimitri Van den Bergh lost to Martin Schindler in the second round.
Luke Littler began his title defence with a 6-3 victory over Ryan Searle, setting up a last 16 clash with Luke Woodhouse, who defeated Gary Anderson in a stunning performance that featured three tons plus checkouts and a 170 finish.
Ross Smith and Gerwyn Price were the best performers on Saturday after posting 112 averages. Smith set a new tournament record of 112.60 in a stunning victory over Rob Cross, whilst Price averaged 112.42 during his win against the dangerous youngster Gian van Veen.
Michael van Gerwen suffered another early defeat this season, losing to the big Croatian Boris Krcmar 6-3. There are big question marks over the great Dutchman at the moment and it was another under par performance from the world number 3, averaging just 93.86.
Martin Schindler hit 6 doubles from 13 attempts during his victory over an under-par Dimitri Van den Bergh yesterday. The German won two European Tour events last season and certainly won't struggle with the hostile atmosphere today as he looks to beat another home favourite here.
Mike De Decker finally returned to form yesterday averaging 100.45 during a brilliant victory over Luke Humphries. The world number 1 wasn't really on his game though and he looked tired, as did quite a few of the Premier League participants.
That won't bother the Belgian though as that performance will certainly help his confidence after a very mediocre start to the season.
I think missing out on Premier League selection has affected him, and he hasn't helped himself since speaking out about the decision. The choice to talk in the press has perhaps backfired because all eyes have been on him since then, creating unneeded pressure.
If De Decker hadn't averaged 100 yesterday, he wouldn't have been favourite in this match, but he did, and that's why the price for Schindler here looks very enticing. The Belgian averaged just 86 in his 6-5 first round victory over Thomas Lovely.
Lovely had just 28% on his doubles in that match so De Decker rode his luck there. For me, Schindler is much the better player at the moment and has so much experience now on the Euro Tour.
The German has played some of the best darts of his career during these events and I think he will show his class again here and disappoint the Belgian crowd.

Ross Smith played beautifully yesterday, setting a new tournament record averaging 112.60. Smith is starting to find his form again after a very slow start to the season.
'Smudger' has been one of the biggest scorers in the World over the last few season's and he's been hitting maximums with ease again over the last few weeks, five in yesterdays victory against Cross and an incredible 11 during a 10-9 defeat to Josh Rock at the UK Open in Minehead.
Matt Campbell has played very well in Belgium, averaging 96.75 and 92.47 during wins against Cameron Menzies and Peter Wright. He's started this season much better after a real struggle in 2024.
The Canadian has never been the most prolific of maximum hitters and has only had five in two matches so far in this tournament. The odds for both my selections here represent fantastic value and with Smith seemingly back to his best, I'd expect plenty of maximums today.

Dave Chisnall won two European Tour events in 2024 and has won six in the last 3 seasons. His start to 2025 has been very strange though and has incredibly averaged under 76 twice in Players Championship events.
He did have a run to the QF of PC02 but apart from that he's been extremely poor. He beat Ricardo Pietreczko yesterday with a 91 average but the German was under par again, averaging just 83. Chisnall may feel more comfortable on a European stage after all the success he's had over the years but his form is a big concern.
Ritchie Edhouse is another player who's had a very slow start to the 2025 season. He's failed to get past the last 32 of any tournament and has consistently averaged below 90.
He's played well in Wieze so far though with victories over Owen Bates and Nathan Aspinall with 98 and 94 averages. It's probably a strange time for him after winning the European Championship as it's the first time in his career he's become a target and feeling pressure to perform.
Edhouse looks such a good price at 1/1 simply because you can't predict with any certainty how Chisnall will play at the moment. It feels strange tipping against Chizzy at a Euro Tour event but right now, Edhouse looks as if he's playing better and think he'll scrape through in this one.

You may be surprised at me tipping the Dutchman to win here after Clayton's very solid start to the season. If you look closely into the stats, you will notice van Duijvenbode is starting to play really well again after his injury-ravaged last 18 months.
He's not averaged under 90 all season, including 6 averages over 97 in 10 games played. You can tell he's scoring well again after having the highest average in four of the five matches he's lost this year. He got away with it yesterday after Chris Dobey missed 8 match darts but I think the big Dutchman was probably due a bit of luck after his start to the year.
Jonny Clayton looks very good again and is starting to find results. A brilliant run to the semi-final of the UK Open being the highlight and he's consistently averaged around the mid 90's all season.
When he was at his best 5/6 years ago, he would always battle and win close games and that's exactly what he's doing again at the moment. There's lots of positive signs if you're a Clayton fan, especially after he denied a trio of 12 darters and a 99 average to beat Wessel Nijman yesterday 6-5.
I really like the look of van Duijvenbode's game at the moment and I think it's only a matter of time before he starts getting results. It won't be easy today against the inform Welshman but I really like the price so we'll follow the value in this one.
