Below, you can find James's best bets for night six of the Premier League Darts in Berlin. The odds were correct at the time of writing.
League leader, Jonny Clayton, takes on bottom of the table, Josh Rock, in tonight's opening match in Berlin.
Rock has struggled to settle on his Premier League debut, and after getting thumped 6-0 by Gerwyn Price last week, his confidence looks shot to bits. The Northern Irishman is still hunting down his first points of the campaign, but it looks like a tough task against the inform Welshman here.
I don't expect Rock to play as badly as he did last week, but his main problem is that his scoring power has gone missing, so the 180 market looks the play in this contest.
Luke Humphries arrives in Berlin fresh from lifting the European Tour 3 title in Belgium over the weekend. Cool Hand delivered a series of outstanding performances throughout the event, including an emphatic 7-2 victory over Michael van Gerwen in the semi-finals.
Van Gerwen, meanwhile, is beginning to rediscover his form after the illness that disrupted his early-season rhythm. He looks to be enjoying his darts again, and history shows that when he’s playing with freedom and confidence, he’s extremely dangerous. That said, the Dutchman has lost his last five matches in the Premier League and urgently needs to start picking up points if he’s to keep his top-four ambitions alive.
Despite those recent Premier League struggles, Van Gerwen was once again scoring extremely heavily in Belgium last week. If that level carries over, he should be right in this, and everything points towards a close, high-quality contest tonight.
Luke Littler is beginning to find his feet again in the Premier League after a difficult start to his campaign. The teenager has now won two of the last three nights and is firmly back in the conversation as he eyes a push towards top spot.
Stephen Bunting, by contrast, continues to struggle for consistency and has now lost his last four matches across all competitions. Confidence and momentum are everything in darts, and at the moment The Bullet appears to be short of both. He remains a top-class operator, but on current form he could be facing another tough evening against The Nuke.
Gian van Veen missed last week’s action due to a medical issue involving kidney stones, and has openly admitted that he’s still feeling low on energy, even revealing that he considered pulling out again tonight.
Given that admission, there’s a strong chance the Dutchman will be a little rusty, having likely had limited practice time over the past couple of weeks. That opens the door for an opponent to strike early.
This looks like a prime opportunity for Gerwyn Price to catch him cold. If Price starts strongly and applies pressure from the outset, he has the tools to take control quickly and show no mercy.
