The top seeds enter the fray on day 2 of the Austrian Darts Open as we see another 16 matches played over a double session on Saturday.
Ryan Searle started the season well, winning PC04 in February, but he's made just one quarter-final run since then in March, and for a player of Searle's ability, that simply isn't good enough. Heavy Metal played in Munich last week but lost out to MVG in the last 16 and failed to average over 90 in both of his games there.
Ryan Joyce continues his rise up the world rankings after a fabulous run to the quarter-final last week at Euro Tour 4. He also made it through to the final of the European Darts Trophy a month ago, so his form on the Euro Tour stage is very impressive.
Ryan Joyce has all the momentum after another good run in Munich, and I think he can battle away and win a close one this afternoon.

Danny Noppert is usually the most solid player on the European Tour, but he's yet to win a game this season after losing his opening match in all four he's played in. The Dutchman had a semi-final run in PC14 two weeks ago, and that could well kick-start his season.
Niko Springer averaged 96.25 during his 6-1 victory over Lukas Wenig in the first round yesterday. He's certainly a much better player on the big stage and seems to find his best results in front of the cameras.
Noppert hasn't looked himself so far this season, and even though he's usually extremely reliable, he's been handed a tough draw here and will find it tough to keep close to the high-scoring German.

Daryl Gurney was unlucky last week in Munich after averaging 100.12 in a 6-3 defeat to Niels Zonneveld. He did make it through to the last 16 of the Belgian Darts Open in March which is his best run on tour so far this season. A seasonal average of 94.30 shows he's still playing solidly enough, but needs to start picking up results soon.
Mensur Suljovic delighted his home crowd with a 6-3 win over an out-of-sorts Ritchie Edhouse yesterday. The Austrian has shown this season he still has the game to compete at this level, but will need a better performance today to trouble Gurney.
The crowd will always play a part in matches like this, which can create a scrappy affair. On that basis, I can see it being close, potentially all the way to a last-leg decider.

Peter Wright is starting to find his mojo again after back-to-back quarter-final runs on the European Tour. He also made it to the final of PC11 between those tournaments, and it looks Snakebite may well be back.
Luke Woodhouse has had a strange season, but still has two quarter-final runs at PC01 and PC12. A seasonal average of 93.05 isn't bad at all, but he's finding it hard to get consistent results.
Woody came through a last-leg decider against Nathan Rafferty yesterday, but averaged just 86.0,8 and he'll need to put at least 10 points on that to trouble the in-form Scot.

Dave Chisnall has been below par this season by his standards, but he's still found results with three last 16s and a quarter-final in the four European Tour events he's played in. Those results don't immediately jump off the page for a player like Chizzy, but it's important to still find wins even when you're struggling, which is a sign of an elite player.
Ian White seems to have been rejuvenated over the last month and showed that again yesterday with a fantastic 6-5 win over Madars Razma. White averaged 96.97, hit three 180s, and was 6/7 on his doubles. Performances like that have been rare for the veteran over the past few years, but he can clearly still compete with the best.
Dave Chisnall hasn't looked himself this season, but he's still managed to grind out results. He hasn't lost an opening match on the European Tour this season, so for that reason, his price looks fantastic value to get over the line here.
