Ryan Joyce averaged over 100 for the majority of his first-round match, eventually winning 3-0 with a 95.27 average. Joyce lived up to his nickname and was relentless at times, especially with his finishing. If he continues in that manner, he will be difficult to beat once again at Ally Pally.
Krzysztof Ratajski's patience was mightily tested during his opening round victory against Alexis Toylo. The Polish Eagle came through 3-0 with a 97.67, and admitted afterwards it was difficult to cope with the Filipino's pace. However, he did brilliantly to get through, but faces another tough test today.
This is a very evenly matched contest, but Joyce has looked so solid on that stage over the last few years, and I expect him to keep his cool and come through a tight match.

Joe Cullen used the fact he was the underdog with the bookmakers to his advantage, for a second year running, as he breezed through a tricky match with Bradley Brooks 3-0 with a 99.33 average. The Rockstar is dangerous on the Ally Pally stage, and if he can back up that opening performance, he will be tough to beat in this tournament.
Mensur Suljovic rolled back the years to produce a vintage performance in the first round. The Austrian beat David Cameron 3-1 with a 94.92 average, and if he plays like that again this afternoon, he can certainly cause Cullen problems.
Joe's main issue over the last 2 years has been failing to back up a good performance, but I think that changes today, and he will come through this match with another solid display.

Rob Cross looked much better in his opening round and will be relieved to have kept the doubters quiet. There's no secret that he's struggled this season, but a solid 3-0 win with a 90.84 average will do him good. He looked smoother, which was the most positive takeaway from that match, and I expect him to improve each round he progresses.
Ian White came through a mighty slog to defeat Mervyn King 3-2. Diamond averaged just 81.13, and it looks as if his days at the top level may be coming to an end. Age catches up with everybody, but I would be surprised to see him play that badly today.
Cross will be up for this match; it's a pretty kind draw, and if he remains as smooth as he was in his opening match, he should breeze through this contest.

Gerwyn Price appears to be in a confident mood, as evident in his post-match interview, where he stated that he will win the title this year. If the Welshman remains this focused, he is the biggest danger to the two lukes, especially Littler, as they are in the same quarter.
As good as Plaisier looked in his opening round, this looks to be a step too far, and I expect Price to put in another eye-catching performance.

Damon Heta looked much better during his opening match, beating Steve Lennon 3-1 with a 91.56 average. The Aussie looked more in control of his throw than he has done at times this year, and will have to do the same again tonight to come through this tricky tie.
Stefan Bellmont produced the biggest performance of his career to defeat the great Raymond van Barneveld 3-0 in the first round. The Swiss star averaged 91.36 and has now given himself a chance to get his tour card, but will need a run to the quarter-final to do so.
Damon Heta was always a big maximum hitter, but lately he has gone off the boil in that department. However, I think this match will be tight, which gives both players plenty of chances to hit 180s.
