Gentleman Jim was launched in March 2024 by Lovell Brothers Limited, which is the company that also founded DragonBet.
Like its sister site, Gentleman Jim sticks to its theme and is aimed at 'proper punters' with higher stake bets welcomed. Additionally, the interface and language used by the bookmaker seem very gentlemanly, which adds more to the experience, if you will.

There are concepts of something with Gentleman Jim, and it arguably has some of the 'more difficult' stuff on lockdown. The site has a theme, and the interface and language used in some areas further drive this.
However, there are so many areas where the app just fails to incentivise sign-ups or even retention. Promotions are non-existent seemingly, so there are no reasons to use the site for this, and the margins do not represent enough value to choose it over other new bookmakers.
Furthermore, the payment methods on offer are really lacklustre, and when customers are more 'picky' than ever, there are too many downfalls with the site.
Gentleman Jim is one of the newest options for punters on the market, launching in early 2024. The owners of the site, Lovell Brothers Limited, have previously had success with DragonBet, and many of the successes of that site have been carried over to Gentleman Jim.
Not only does the site have an easily recognisable theme, which most new bookmakers have, but there is also a focus on a few areas, which makes it a better option for some customers than others.
Additionally, there is an openness to high-stakes punters, so this could be a site for high rollers, and once again, this ties into the site's theme.
In this review, we will take a look at everything you need to know about the site. From the payment methods to the customer support, reading this should help you make an informed decision about whether to sign up or not.
Gentleman Jim, as expected, holds the required licensing information needed for any UK bookmaker. Not only is the site licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission but the site is also partnered with IBAS, which is a dispute service.
Considering customers often have issues with payouts with some betting sites, seeing this is a hugely welcomed thing, and we can give credit for this.
On Trustpilot, most of the reviews are about verification issues due to the KYC requirements. As a result, the bookmaker only scores 2.2 stars, which is definitely not a good look, but is this harsh?
The big thing for new betting sites is sign-up offers, after all, they are the starting incentive to join a new site. However, Gentleman Jim does not offer any sign-up incentive at all to new customers, which is certainly a shock.
In this case, even something would be better than nothing, but this is not the case either. In fact, there is nothing to add value to your sign-up, which is such a crucial part of the experience for new customers. A really poor thing indeed.
If you were considering Gentleman Jim as a new bookmaker, solely due to a possible sign-up bonus, please consider viewing our list of the best offers available for new customers currently.
Without a sign-up bonus, there are surely other promotions offered to make up for this... right? Well, at this moment, there are none offered by Gentleman Jim and thus is a real blow to the bookmaker.
Considering there is a large focus on racing, a Best Odds Guaranteed promotion would be somewhat expected, but the site does not even provide this. Again, another huge issue for us, as the site lacks any incentives other than an interface.
With the disappointments elsewhere, the site needs some redemption, and you could argue it comes here in a way. In addition to the standard debit card, Gentleman Jim now also accepts deposits with Apple Pay, which is fantastic news.
Furthermore, like most of its sister sites, the minimum deposit amount is set at a low £1. It is one of just a few sites that accept this, so that is something indeed. Below, we have collected everything you need to know about deposits at Gentleman Jim.
| Payment Method | Min Deposit | Max Deposit | Deposit Fee | Processing Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
      Visa | £1 | £10,000 | No fee | Instant |
      Mastercard | £1 | £10,000 | No fee | Instant |
      Apple Pay | £1 | £1,000 | No fee | Instant |
Below, we have put together a step-by-step guide for adding funds to a Gentleman Jim account. There are no differences when depositing on the site or the mobile app, so we chose to do so with the latter.
Once you have entered the app, or the website for that matter, you must tap the profile icon in the top right. Then, tap the orange 'Deposit' box that appears.

Following this, you will be taken to the transaction area, and here you must enter your amount of deposit in the box, or choose from the pre-determined amounts. Then, tap 'Pay Using Debit Card'.
Finally, you will be asked to provide your payment information to the site, once this is done, tap 'Pay Now'.
In our test, we had to verify the payment with our bank, but there were no issues past that.
Like with most Playbook Gaming sites, Gentleman Jim is actually really solid when it comes to making withdrawals. Things start positively, thanks to the option to withdraw as little as £1 per transaction, which is a real rarity.
However, it gets even better with Gentleman Jim completing withdrawal requests instantly. In our most recent test, we actually received the funds straight after tapping to submit the request. A fantastic result, thanks to Visa Direct.
Below, we have collected everything you need to know about withdrawing funds from Gentleman Jim.
| Payment Method | Min Withdrawal | Max Withdrawal | Withdrawal Fee | Withdrawal Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Visa | £1 | Not specified | No fee | Instant in our test |
      Mastercard | £1 | Not specified | No fee | 2-5 business days |
      Apple Pay | £1 | £1,000 | No fee |
If you are new to Gentleman Jim, or perhaps want to see the withdrawal process before signing up, you can take a look at our step-by-step guide below:
As we did when depositing, once again, head to the profile menu via the icon in the top right, and then tap the 'Withdraw' option shown in the list.

After entering the cashier, you will be shown your balance above the withdrawal text box - once again, you can enter your own amount (of at least £1) or use one of the available options.

Following this, you will be shown that your withdrawal is pending, and it states that it may arrive instantly or take two business days to reach your account.
Thankfully, we got our money on the earlier side of this timeframe, with the Visa Direct payment proving to be a success, as our money arrived straight away.
Gentleman Jim's sportsbook plays into a number of different things I feel, such as buying into the brand, which I have to give credit for. Each sport is tailored to the audience that the site seeks, football being 'The Beautiful Game', rugby being 'The Gladiator's Game', and then the casino area is called 'The Gentleman's Clubhouse'.
The wording of each area, despite still having the same options, further buys into your perception of the product and adds to the Gentlemanly vibe that the site yearns for, and it works to an extent.
However, it does not really add to the most important product of the app - the markets.
Horse racing is the big area of the app, and with the sport featured above the in-play markets and before the football and rugby banner, you can easily tell that this is the site's priority. It does not really translate, though, I must admit.
There is a fantastic range of fixtures and some live-streaming options available, but the actual markets on each are not great with only win and forecast markets available. Other bookmakers, for example, offer place markets and a host of other markets even if horse racing is not a priority. If it is going to be a priority, which it seemingly is, it needs to follow through.
Moving over to football, the story is not much better. Once again, certain markets are lacking, and this leads to the bookmaker, albeit slightly harsh, having little to go for it in terms of sign-ups. There are few, if any, incentives to use this sportsbook compared to others, many of which have a greater list of promotions and markets.
As much as I may have slated the sportsbook, the casino actually has quite a lot to like.
Starting from the menu itself, the site allows customers to find specific game types easily, with a search bar and several filters, which is a really nice touch and makes navigating the options very easy, whether you are looking for a specific game or a mode.
In terms of the games themselves, there is a very nice range of different providers, which automatically gives the site a boost. Gentleman Jim offers the big names in the business, such as Duel Reels, Pragmatic Play, Megaways and Hacksaw Gaming, just to name a few.
Furthermore, there is a nice range of 'Live Casino' and table games that can be played, which again, adds to the experience and gives a nice range of options, and in many ways, this is like the sportsbook.
With both, the range of options is mostly really nice, but there are definitely downfalls with the sports side. The casino is probably something more to boast about for Gentleman Jim, which is imaginably not what the site is trying to do.
Unfortunately, the site again does not offer any promotions to incentivise customers to use their casino over other options, which again is a downfall of the site.
Whilst having a mobile betting app can add more customers to a site, it can also be a big reason why some do not proceed with certain bookmakers, and it seems that the latter is the case with Gentleman Jim's app.
Across the iOS App Store and the Android Play Store, the site's app has a combined rating of 2.5 stars. However, the review amount is quite small, so with time this data could drastically change.
From the reviews, customers have complained about the market options, whilst others have had frustrations with the financial side of the app. It is something to be wary of, and it does not give much confidence.
There are many great betting apps in the UK, so it feels like there is no real point in settling here.
Customer support services are a must-have for any budding bookmaker, and unfortunately, like many sites in the United Kingdom, Gentleman Jim falls way short of what is expected and desired by customers.
The site only offers an FAQ area, and the navigation within this area is certainly not great. Rather than being a separate page, a small menu pops up, which you can scroll through. Unfortunately, there is no search bar or 'Table of Contents', which again is rather frustrating.
In addition to this, there are no live chat options, which is a huge downfall, and the only way to contact the site is via its email address. Once again, it is another cross, where the site could have gained a nice positive.
