Ben's Predictions for England Squad

There are some tasty odds already, and this means that we can already find a bit of value in the market for players that should and could be there. Considering this is being written in September 2025, there is a LONG way to go before the tournament.

Most of the guarantees are around 1/12-1/2, which is somewhat off-putting. However, you could build a decent bet on 'should be's' if you want a longer-term return. For me, though, I'm going to steer clear of many of the low prices.

Valentino Livramento - 5/4

Starting things off with a bit of a lower price, I think Tino Livramento gives us some great value at 5/4. The Englishman plays for a European side that should do well this year, and this normally bodes well for selections.

At 22, the full-back is comfortable at both left and right back, and he provides versatility, which has to be heavily considered in a World Cup squad. With spots limited, having two comfortable positions is a huge bonus.

He likely won't be the first choice for either, but as a depth option, I can't look past him.

Jack Grealish - 6/4

Early doors, yes. However, Jack Grealish is doing all the right things to earn himself an England place next summer. For Everton, he has been superb so far, and looks like a man possessed.

With four assists in three Premier League games, he has started brilliantly, and if he keeps this up, he has to be in the squad.

Additionally, he has tournament experience, and whilst he was not at the last European Championship, he knows what a good group looks like. Character is a must, and Grealish has bags full.

Dan Burn - 2/1

Personality is a big thing, and Dan Burn provides that as well as Grealish. For Newcastle, he is a key figure in the dressing room, and this can be replicated for the Three Lions if given the chance.

Of course, he is also a very solid defender. Comfortable in multiple roles in the England defence, he also provides some attacking threat on set-pieces, which is a bit lacking without someone like Harry Maguire.

He's been in each of Tuchel's squads so far, and this could be a huge bit of value for us already.

Djed Spence - 3/1

This is a bet which I'm not as confident in, admittedly. However, the right-back could offer us a nice price at 3/1. The right-back should be a big part of the Tottenham squad this season, and he can also play on the left, like Tino Livramento.

Trent Alexander-Arnold's situation in Spain is not great, and if he is not getting regular football ahead of the summer, it could make this price dive. It is not a massive bet opportunity for me, but it certainly stands out a little.

The 2026 World Cup takes place between June and July, and is hosted in Canada, Mexico and the United States. This is the first time the World Cup is hosted by three countries.

The 2026 World Cup has also expanded from 32 to 48 teams for the first time. The host cities and match schedules will be annouced by FIFA closer to the event.

FIFA’s overall deadline window for final squad submissions in 2026 is currently expected to be between April 1 and May 25, 2026. England’s official squad announcement usually happens shortly before that, but no specific date has yet been confirmed.

England, like all nations, can name a final squad of up to 26 players for the 2026 World Cup, including three goalkeepers. This continues the expanded squad size first introduced for the 2022 tournament.

Yes. Before the final 26 is confirmed, England will submit a larger provisional list (up to 55 players) to FIFA. The final squad must be selected from that list and will be announced in April–May 2026, ahead of the tournament starting in June.
