Day 12 of the PDC World Championship and this afternoon’s 3rd round ties look to be a day of big opportunities for a lot of these players and this could well turn into a very interesting session.
Jeffrey de Graaf plays his third-round match this afternoon, fresh from his brilliant victory against Gary Anderson in round two. He will play the Filipino, Paolo Nebrida who also caused a big shock in round two, dismantling the highly fancied Ross Smith 3-0.
A huge opportunity for both of those players in that match. The impressive young Dutchman, Kevin Doets is back at the palace after dumping out the 2nd seed Michael Smith.
He faces a tough match against the experienced Pole, Krzysztof Ratajski. Rounding off the afternoon we have a fascinating match between Dimitri Van den Bergh and Callan Rydz. That's the tie of the session for me and there should be a lot of 180s in that game.
Jeffrey de Graaf has been superb so far in this World Championship and has a massive chance here to progress even further. He beat Rashad Sweeting 3-1 in the first round with a 92.30 average and 3 180s.
In the second round he caused arguably one of the shocks of the tournament and quite possibly one of the biggest shocks in World Championship history after he beat the well fancied Gary Anderson 3-0.
He took advantage and took his chances against the out of sorts ‘Flying Scotsman’ who only had a 15% checkout rate. De Graaf averaged 95.56 and won 9-3 in legs to record a famous dominant victory.
De Graaf has a huge opportunity here to progress to the last 16 because the draw has completely opened up for him after top seeds have been dropping like flies in his section of the draw.
If he manages to take advantage, he will take a huge leap into the top 64 in the World Rankings and can relax about his Tour Card situation.
Paolo Nebrida has finally got a bit of luck at Ally Pally after eventually being on the right side of a 5 set match to record his first victory at the World Championship in the first round.
He beat Jim Williams 3-2 with an 86.63 average and I said he would need to improve on that average in his next game and he did exactly that.
He caused another seismic shock in this year's Worlds after beating another highly fancied seed, Ross Smith in straight sets. A 91.07 average and four 180s was good enough to win 3-0 against the struggling ‘Smudger’.
This is a dream scenario for both of these players and without a doubt, they’ll both be feeling confident to get through.
This could well turn into a bit of a nervy affair because of how big this opportunity is so I expect it to be a close match and could go all the way.
Because I can see this going to 6 or 7 sets I think we can safely back the total match 180s here as it offers tremendous value.

After a really under par season for the young Dutchman, he's finally showing the pure talent he possesses in this World Championship. People in the know have been tipping Kevin Doets to have a run at some point in a major and this could well be his opportunity.
He dealt with the situation really well in his first-round match as there was a lot of pressure on him but he came through it well and beat Noa-Lynn van Leuven 3-1 with an 88.13 average.
Second round he finally got his revenge on Michael Smith after losing an excellent game last year 3-2 at the same stage of the tournament.
This time round though, Doets held his nerve unbelievably well to deny ‘Bully Boy’. Doets averaged 96.90 and hit 9 180s on his way to a famous 3-2 victory against the former World Champion.
Krzysztof Ratajski had to use every bit of his experience to win his first game of the tournament. He played the very awkward Filipino, Alexis Toylo, who himself is a fabulous player but the pace of his place is extremely slow.
Ratajski isn't the fastest player either so at times it became a hard watch but I felt like the ‘Polish Eagle’ dealt with it brilliantly. He came through 3-1 with a 95.32 average and 5 180s to deny Toylo who averaged 96.39 himself.
Ratajski certainly isn't the player he was 5 years ago but his opening match in this tournament showed us he still has a really solid game in him and he’ll definitely need that today to trouble the talented Doets.
I think the bookies have this match completely wrong after making Ratajski the favourite and I see huge value in Doets here.
Both these players haven't had the best of seasons but I feel like Doets is finding his feet again whilst Ratajski’s best days are perhaps behind him.
The way Doets played under pressure against Michael Smith was outstanding so I think the Dutchman will score heavily from the off and put loads of pressure on ‘The Polish Eagle’

This is a big match for Dimitri Van den Bergh as he’s defending £100,000 on his rankings because of his Semi-Final run here 2 years ago. He dealt with the pressure very well though in his opening victory against the talented Dylan Slevin.
The Belgian won 3-0 and hit 6 180s, averaging 96.00 in a very impressive display. That performance showed us once again the difference between Dimitri’s floor game and TV game and shows how dangerous he still is on the big stage.
He does really need to sort that problem out though because eventually it will catch up with him and a loss here because of his inconsistent form over the past 18 months could see him fall outside of the top 16 in the world rankings.
Callan Rydz has been one of the players of the tournament for me so far and it's really good to see him playing so well. He blew Romeo Grbavac away 3-0 in the first round with a blistering performance, averaging 107.06 in the process.
He then played Martin Schindler in the next round and everyone was wondering whether he could back his performance up from the first round and he certainly delivered. He took complete advantage of the out of sorts German number 1 and beat him 3-0 and 9-3 in legs in a dominant performance.
A 91.05 average was good enough and he comes into today looking back to his best and will no doubt be a tough test for the Belgian.
This match promises to be a very high-scoring affair with both these players being power scorers when they’re on form. I never like to bet against Dimitri just because he can produce brilliance at any moment on TV so I think the total 180s market here is a nice price.
For me, I think Rydz may start to falter if Van den Bergh gets on top early and the way Dimitri looked in his first match looks a little dangerous for the Englishman.
