With Manchester United sitting 16th in the Premier League, there is a need for improvement, despite them being in a European final, and the market for the next Manchester United head coach has opened again...
Below are the latest betting odds for Manchester United next permanent manager at the time of this post.
For a club like Manchester United, the level of failure in recent years has gotten beyond comical. However, we are now at a point where this is the normal, rather than outlying results.
In the past 15 years, the Red Devils have gone from one of the most feared sporting institutions in Europe to a laughing stock, and the constant churning of head coaches has killed any chances of momentum.
Now, the latest head coach is under fire (not for the first time in his tenure, it is worth mentioning). Ruben Amorim's side are sitting in 16th and a Europa League final is a chance at salvation, though it can certainly be questioned how much this masks the truth of the situation.
In fact, the Portuguese even suggested himself that he could leave if there is nothing that changes in the near future, which has caused bookmakers to list odds for his replacement.
Let's go over the favourites to replace Ruben Amorim and the odds for each manager.
It is understandable why Allegri is the current favourite to replace Amorim, given he is out of work and has previously been reported to be interested in the job. However, it equally makes no sense at all.
Going from Amorim and the mould of recent coaches to Allegri doesn't really make sense in my head, given they play completely different football. The Italian could be a decent coach to stabilise things, but that is a huge doubt.
For me, the price of 4/1 is untouchable, and I'd be looking elsewhere.

This is certainly an interesting pick, and dare I say it is one that makes sense in some ways. Glasner as a coach fits the bill of the recent hires from the Red Devils - young, attractive football, and European.
However, the United job is not a stable role, and with Glasner's stock only rising in South London, would it make sense to leave? Probably not, however, if assurances were given to the Austrian, it could be a good longer term project.
At 6/1 though, I'd want a higher price before backing it again, considering this is not for a job that is currently open.

When Pochettino has been linked to the Tottenham Hotspur job recently, I have said it is incredibly lazy, and I'm inclined to say the same thing here again.
With the World Cup in 2026, I cannot see the Argentinian coach leaving his post with the American Men's National Team for a job which he could be without by the following summer. Plus, the release clause in his deal is reportedly lucrative.
This is just a name based on previous interest, and at 8/1 I'm looking well clear.

Amorim's words have certainly kicked up a bit of a fuss, but the market is not really too attractive for head coaches currently, at least for ones that could move to Manchester United and hit the ground running.
Kieran McKenna and Gareth Southgate are both listed at 10s, admittedly the price for the latter is a little bit interesting, given the previous links. However, you can pick holes in both candidates.
Following that, the list is difficult. Coaches either would not take the job, or would not probably be offered it, and this is where it is difficult to analyse.
Roberto De Zerbi at 16s feels ridiculously underpriced, considering you are relying on two managers to move - Amorim out and De Zerbi to leave Marseille - though could be an interesting contender.
If I had to throw a name into the mix, Thiago Motta could be interesting, though he is not listed on the market.
Put it this way, from the current selections, I'd rather look at other markets than this one.
