Problems clear at Chelsea

Chelsea have been a top-four candidate throughout this season, and there have been times when they have been fighting for the title, it seemed.

Of course, under Enzo Maresca, they have had problems. However, when there are as many problems to deal with, Maresca was seemingly doing a really good job with the Blues.

Without a doubt, they are the most volatile club in European football currently, and that just is not exciting for any manager to take on. Nevertheless, let's take a look at their next manager odds.

Next Chelsea Manager Odds - The Bookies' Favourites

Let's go over the favourites to replace Enzo Maresca and the odds for each manager.

Liam Rosenior - 4/11

This just feels like the incredibly easy option, and maybe that is slightly harsh on Liam Rosenior. The Englishman has done a stellar job with Strasbourg since his move to France, and with the BlueCo links, it makes a lot of sense.

Saying that, though, he is, in my eyes, far too young to be moving to Chelsea. Mistakes are punished in the Prem, especially at Stamford Bridge, and making the switch this early just feels wrong.

Of course, it is naturally going to be the favourite selection. However, I do not see the value in it from a punter's perspective. Nor do I see its point from a football fan's perspective. A heavy avoid for me in both pairs of shoes.

Filipe Luis - 7/1

Filipe Luis' links to the job, again, make a lot of sense, but for different reasons. The Brazilian has proven that his tactics can hold their own against European opposition - as shown in the Club World Cup last summer.

As a former Blue, too, there are reasons to support this idea. However, he signed a two-year extension before the turn of the year, so I cannot see this one happening either. Maybe in the future, but not yet.

The Odds Elsewhere

There are a few nice odds available, indeed, but it largely hinges on the willingness to leave in mid-season in a lot of cases. For example, Andoni Iraola (16/1) and Cesc Fabregas (9/1), I struggle to see them leaving at this moment.

If either is more likely to, I think it would be Iraola at this stage. Yet, I wouldn't be rushing to back him just yet.

Xavi Hernandez at 22/1 could be an interesting selection, and he would certainly align with the profile of a coach that Chelsea want; someone who prioritises young players with an exciting style. I'd have some doubts, though.

Something, then, that might be worth considering is a move for John Terry. If coaches are unwilling to leave in mid-season, then the Blues may make a move for their former captain as a stopgap appointment.

At 50/1, it certainly seems a bit unlikely, but there are worse prices available, I feel.

Saying that, it is a market I would probably avoid at this moment. It feels like value is hard to spot, and the volatility of the job could see the markets shift massively in quick times.
