The second weekend of League Two has brought some answers to some questions from Matchday 1. However, it has also reaffirmed some issues from the opening weekend. Let's take a look, shall we?
For what it's worth, we have again based these sections on our predictions, as well as the odds. Of course, that means some teams will have more of a focus than others, but whilst it is early, we can only go off little.
Saying finally in the second week feels slightly dramatic. However, like Oasis, we're rolling with it! MK Dons picked up their first win of the season this weekend after a poor draw in the first week of the season.
The Dons remain the favourites to win the league this season, and it is no shock why this is the case. We already covered these reasons in the preview for the league, though. A 2-0 win against Barrow is not the spark that shows that they will be the league winners this year.
However, a goal and assist from summer recruit Callum Paterson shows that they have the right people around to make the difference.
Elsewhere, Chesterfield also continued their flying start, again winning. This time out, though, it was more comfortable than the first weekend as they won by two goals away at Cheltenham. Again, without conceding. Solid, indeed.
Fleetwood and Crewe join them as the only sides to win both of their opening games. The latter are certainly causing a few shocks at the moment, and sit atop the league with a +4 goal difference.
Below, we have collected the top teams - aside from the big favourites - and their respective odds to finish top 7 in the 2025/26 League Two season.
Swindon are, somehow, the third favourites to win the league title at the moment. However, their opening games have not really shown too much in the way of this. A 3-2 win against Cambridge is not the biggest sign of a title contender.
Gillingham then follow, and with a win and a draw so far, they are in a slightly stronger position. Right now, they are above Evens for a place in the Top Seven, proving that there is still value in the market.
Grimsby also remain in the play-offs after a high-scoring draw against Harrogate. The Mariners have scored the most goals of anyone in the division, and they look to be a pretty decent bet for a Top Seven spot at the end of the year.
Colchester, who were one of my picks to get a Top Seven spot, have not started excellently. Both of their games have ended 1-1 so far, which does not really inspire. As a result, they have been drifting a little in the market.
Salford City picked up their first win of the season this weekend too, with many bookmakers considering them to be a potential contender. A 2-1 win against Notts County is a solid result, especially away from home.
Below, we have collected the top four teams and their respective odds to be relegated in the 2025/26 League Two season.
The second weekend, again, only shows us a glimpse into how the season may go. However, there are already some worrying teams at the bottom of the division, it must be said.
Barnet have opened this season poorly, failing to win either of their first two games back in the fourth division. A 2-0 loss against Bromley is not a hugely worrying result, but there is certainly more to be desired.
Crawley Town, who were just relegated from League One, also look in a bit of early danger. So far, they have conceded the most goals of anyone in the division and a 2-1 defeat to relegation favourites Newport County is really not a good look.
Cheltenham are the third-favourites to be relegated this season. So, it is somewhat fitting they sit third from bottom at the moment. A 2-0 defeat against Chesterfield, though, is not something to be too concerned about. In fact, it is not something which makes them more or less likely to go down.
Accrington's draw on the first day keeps them away from the bottom of the pile for now, though the bookmakers still think they are one of the favourites for relegation.
Bristol Rovers have also not started the campaign too strongly, losing both of their opening games. It is not something to worry about for now, but fans will be expecting more in the near future.
