If you're a club looking for a new goalkeeper then you could do a lot worse than signing the winner of the last two Lev Yashin Goalkeeper of the Year awards. We take a look at who leads the Emiliano Martinez's next club odds.
Compare the latest summer transfer odds for the clubs likely to be vying for Emiliano Martinez's signature during the window.
Generally speaking, there is no smoke without fire. As such, we have to assume there is a very real possibility that Emi Martinez leaves Aston Villa this summer. Understanding the "why" will help us narrow down Martinez' next club as well.
From an Aston Villa perspective, they adore him but do need to bring in funds for their PSR position. As for the player, Villa have missed out on Champions League football so the desire to compete at the very top level might be a factor.
The other element is money. At 32-years-old could he be in line for one last mega payday? In all likelihood, he won't get something that gives him both of those things. As such, we have a varied list of potential destinations.
Despite all the build up about Emiliano Martinez' next club odds, it's actually his current employer that tops the price list. The market for the next club is more often than not limited to where a player will be playing come a date in time not an open ended next club; in this case the date in question is September 3rd.
With that clarified, we probably don't need to say a great deal else. Villa will have a price in their minds for Martinez. If someone hits that price tag, he'll be granted access to speak with them and, if not, he'll stay at Villa Park and be number one next season.
Of course, there is the possibility of the keeper pushing for a move but we're not sure he'll be banging the door down in that manner given his relationships at Villa.

We could write a colossal amount on why Man United want to sign Emi Martinez. They're looking to rebuild under Ruben Amorim with the goalkeeper position just one of several problem areas in their squad. Martinez would solve that problem for them.
What we are less sure of is why the player would want a move to Old Trafford. Yes, it's Man United. That is kind of where it stops with The Red Devils nowadays though. He won't get Champions League football, he won't get extreme wages and, in Aston Villa, you could argue that he's more likely to collect silverware there than at United in the next couple of seasons.
Despite all of that, the rumours connecting the two parties have been quite strong. We guess in a world where Villa were happy to show Martinez the exit door and United were calling, it could happen. The value on the odds is questionable though, in our opinion.

Galatasaray feels like a bit of a rogue destination for Martinez but we guess you can make some form of sense for it. If Martinez wants to compete in the Champions League, add more silverware to his career haul and earn big money then Galatasaray can deliver on all of those fronts.
The money won't be what he could get moving to a Saudi Pro League, for example, but if trying to balance everything a move to the Turkish Super Lig could well come out as a preferable option.
Their recent acquisition of Leroy Sane and reported interest in Hakan Calhanoglu is perhaps a sign of their intent this summer too. A keeper is known to feature high on their list of targets as well.

From a footballing perspective, no player is trading in the Premier League for the Saudi Pro League. From a financial perspective though, any move Martinez makes to Saudi would transform his bank balance in a way that would run through his family for generations.
Despite what people say, you can't really knock it when players make such a move, especially once they're the wrong side of 30.
That being said, Martinez is amongst the top goalkeepers in the world right now. You'd fancy Martinez to keep his place as Argentina's number one regardless of plying his trade in Saudi but, ultimately, Martinez rebuffing Saudi advances this summer doesn't mean it's not an option in 12 or 24 months time. Top European clubs, by contrast, might not come calling again.
